Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for Principal / Senior Principal Flight Test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This position will be located in Edwards AFB, CA.
The B-2 Flight Test Team is looking for an experienced Flight Test Engineer (FTE) to join the FTE team on modernization programs and work with the Combined Test Force (CTF) at Edwards AFB to assist in test planning, requirements development, test scheduling, test procedure reviews, supporting milestone events, test planning working groups, assist with scheduling test resources, and supporting the conduct of ground and flight test events.
The selected candidate must have excellent communication skills, must work well in a team environment, and must also be able to work independently in a dynamic environment. They will be a subject matter focal point between CTF, ground operations, engineering, and test site team - contractor and customer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and publish Integrated Test Plans, detailed test plans, test schedules, and test procedures for developmental testing.
- Provide laboratory support for integration testing.
- Support and host test planning working groups.
- Interface with test article design and analysis teams to define test configuration and data requirements.
- Review and evaluate test requirements to ensure completeness of test program.
- Support test card development and review in collaboration with other engineering disciplines and test operations personnel.
- Support test readiness reviews, and pre/post-test briefings.
- Provide mission control room support and makes real-time decisions regarding safety, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Support the pre and post-test data analyses to support anomaly identification and resolution.
- Maintains metrics on status of testing and constraints.
This requisition may be filled at either a Principal or a Sr. Principal level.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Flight Test Engineer:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Technical, Engineering or Math (STEM).
- A minimum of 5 years of applicable experience or 3 years with a Masters.
Basic Qualifications for Sr Principal Flight Test Engineer:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Technical, Engineering or Math (STEM).
- A minimum of 9 years of applicable experience or 7 years with a Masters.
Basic Qualifications for Both Principal and Sr Principal Flight Test Engineer
- Must have DoD Secret Clearance.
- Must have ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret Clearance.
- Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- Must have in-depth knowledge of test data requirements, and test methodologies used in the aerospace industry, to include control room monitoring.
- Must have experience working in a Combined Test Experience environment with a government customer.
- Must have experience in a Developmental Flight Test environment.
- Must have a background that includes test card development and review and flight test.
- Requires the ability and willingness to work non-standard hours and multiple shifts on a part-time basis. Overtime, odd shifts, and weekend work may occasionally be required.
- Occasional travel ( 10%) will be required to support offsite testing and lab rehearsals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Top Secret DoD Security Clearance
- Government operated Mission Control Room experience.
- Previous professional experience with mission planning, execution, and debriefing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant industry mission planning software such as Integrated Analysis & Data System (IADS).
Salary Range: $97,500.00 - $146,300.00Salary Range 2: $120,900.00 - $181,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
