TV productions around the world run on software built in Bergen. Live every day, from BBC News to Premier League. Viz Mosart is the application driving the broadcast from the control room, and we are growing the team that builds it.
We're looking for a principal-level engineer who is energized by hard systems problems and cares about building the right thing, not just shipping the next thing.
The challenge
Viz Mosart is a 700,000-line real-time system that runs live television worldwide, and we are modernizing it while it stays on air. That means:
- migrating a .NET Framework core to modern .NET
- moving rich desktop UIs to a web-based architecture (Vue 3 + TypeScript)
- breaking a long-lived monolith into composable, cloud-ready services
This is the kind of problem most engineers never get to touch: deep, real, consequential, and visible on screen. We want someone who finds that exciting rather than daunting.
Requirements
We care most about how you think, but we also want a solid background.
We would expect:
- you work AI-first: orchestrating agents and engineering context is second nature, and you build things in days that used to take a team weeks
- deep systems experience: you've owned the architecture of a large production system and lived with the consequences of those decisions
- genuine care for architecture, code flow, and system design, and the judgment to know when to modernize and when to leave well enough alone
- you raise the level of the people around you through mentoring, review, and clear technical direction
- a computer-science foundation and the communication skills to align decisions across teams and domains
We hire for ceiling over checkbox experience. If you're exceptional, don't let a year count stop you.
What you'll do
- build the foundations that let a small team move at AI-driven development speed without the system losing coherence
- own the bigger technical picture across the Mosart stack, from backend services to web frontends
- lead the architectural evolution toward a modern, web-oriented, cloud-ready platform, while understanding exactly how everything fits together in a live production environment
- set technical direction and align decisions across components, teams, and domains
- see your work on air, in real broadcasts, in real time
How we work
- Small, autonomous teams with shared ownership and fast, flat decisions
- Innovation Days, three per month, to prototype and experiment
- on-site in Media City Bergen, with health insurance, training budget, and flexible office/home days
Technology
- Backend: .NET / C# / ASP.NET
- Frontend: Vue 3 + TypeScript
- Desktop: existing .NET Framework applications (being modernized, not just maintained)
- Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS
