Position Description:
Drives initiatives in User Interface (UI) and Application Programming Interface (API) automation testing, builds and optimizes Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, performs system analysis, and develops robust applications. Performs complex system integration testing in an Agile environment. Performs coding and programming systems using Structured Query Language (SQL). Automates the testing of web applications across different browsers and platforms using Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, REST Assured, and Karate. Implements process improvements within Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) environments (Agile/Scrum). Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates in architecture design teams.
- Defines and implements application-level architecture.
- Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
- Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
- Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
- Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
- Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
- Plans and coordinates complex project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
- Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
- Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
- Advises senior management on technical strategy.
- Mentors junior team members.
- Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
- Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing UI and API automation testing, CI/CD build out, analysis, and application testing.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing UI and API automation testing, CI/CD build out, analysis, and application testing.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise designing and building test automation framework for web applications; creating and executing automated test scripts using Java, Cucumber, Selenium, Eclipse, and TestNG; and testing web services using SOAP UI, Postman, or REST Assured.
- Demonstrated Expertise designing and implementing CI/CD pipeline infrastructures for rapid and reliable software delivery using Jenkins; building orchestration and package dependency management using Java; and performing version control and artifact repositories using SVN, GitHub, or GitLab.
- Demonstrated Expertise developing and executing end‑to‑end test cases using HP ALM, Zephyr, or JIRA; and designing and performing database testing, and data mining using advanced SQL queries across Oracle and IBM DB2.
- Demonstrated Expertise participating in full stack quality assurance lifecycle, including defining testing scope, developing test plans and testing strategies, overseeing the setup of test environments and test data, and monitoring the testing timeline; driving continuous testing and continuous improvement practices within Agile delivery frameworks across multiple testing types -- web services, system, regression, user acceptance, smoke, and database testing -- to ensure the application meets enterprise-grade standards for reliability, scalability, and performance.
