As Hi Marley continues to grow, we’re seeking a Principal Software Engineer with deep expertise in generative AI and a passion for innovation to help us transform the insurance industry with cutting-edge technology. In this role, you’ll design scalable and cost-effective AI architectures that adapt to evolving tools, while spearheading AI R&D efforts to unlock the potential of our data. You’ll tackle impactful projects, experiment with new models, and engage with the broader AI community to push the boundaries of what’s possible. What You’ll Do: 

  • AI Research & Development: Partner with leadership and cross functional teams to unlock the potential of our data and develop AI strategies that deliver real value to our customers.
  • Design & Architect AI Systems: Build scalable and efficient AI architectures that support the creation of AI agents and remain adaptable to rapidly evolving technologies and business objectives.
  • Optimize & Integrate AI: Collaborate with Product and UX teams to refine prompts, fine-tune AI models, and integrate innovative AI solutions (e.g., RAG, LangChain, etc.) to enhance user experiences and drive business outcomes.
  • Lead, Mentor, & Innovate: Drive AI innovation within Hi Marley, mentor others, and foster a collaborative and energetic work environment while staying at the forefront of AI advancements. 

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Generative AI Expertise: 2+ years of hands-on experience with generative AI models, coupled with 10+ years in software development. Proficiency in both API-based solutions (e.g., OpenAI) and self-hosted models (e.g., Ollama) is key. We encourage candidates from diverse backgrounds, including those with less overall experience, to apply if they meet the core AI requirements.
  • API & Cloud Integration: Strong track record of integrating AI services via APIs, especially within cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure). Familiarity with cloud-based AI tools like AWS SageMaker is a plus.
  • AI Optimization & Frameworks: Expertise in optimizing AI models and selecting appropriate tools (e.g., vector stores, RAG, LangChain, LlamaIndex). Ability to craft and fine-tune prompts for production environments to meet business objectives.
  • Full-Stack Development: Proficiency in Python, Ruby, Node.js, and/or TypeScript, with a solid understanding of backend development and familiarity with frontend frameworks.
  • Database & SQL Expertise: Strong understanding of SQL databases and how they apply to AI-driven solutions.
  • CI/CD & AI Performance Monitoring: Experience in deploying AI models in production, with a focus on deployment, model efficacy testing, and prompt & model monitoring to ensure reliable performance in alignment with objectives.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with product teams, UX designers, and engineers. Communicate AI concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Responsible AI Practices: Strong understanding of ethical considerations surrounding AI, including bias mitigation, transparency, and user privacy, ensuring alignment with company values.
  • Continuous Learning & Adaptability: Enthusiasm for staying current with evolving AI technologies and quickly adapting to new tools and methodologies.
  • Product Mindset: Ability to translate business needs into AI-powered solutions, delivering features that drive measurable value.
  • Technical Leadership: Proven experience in leading AI projects, mentoring teams, and ensuring innovative, best-practice-driven implementations.
