About the Role

Invitation Homes is the nation's largest single-family home rental company. Our product teams build the customer-facing experiences and the proptech systems that residents, prospects, and associates rely on every day. When we ship, people feel it.

We've built a product culture that takes that responsibility seriously: collaborative teams, high standards, and a genuine investment in the people around you. Great products are built by people who are supported, growing, and proud of what they ship.

This role combines strategic depth and cross-organizational influence. You will work on the company's most complex initiatives, the ones that cross business units, span customer-facing and operational software, and cannot be solved inside a single team. You will work directly with executive and senior leadership to support them in defining the outcomes that matter, then break the work down across the business to expose complexity, dependencies, and risk before they slow delivery.

You define the product strategy and approach, shape the work, and bring a clear recommendation when direction is unclear. Your reach spans the entire organization, not a single team or vertical. You partner with product leads, who bring domain and product depth, and with designated business leads, who bring business ownership and context, so planning and shipping teams have clear direction and what you define gets executed well across teams.

What You'll Do
  • Work directly with senior leadership to identify target outcomes, translate business goals into clear product objectives, and define how success will be measured.
  • Define the product strategy and cross-functional approach for the initiatives you support. The business owns the decisions and the outcomes, product leads and delivery teams own planning and shipping, and you own the clarity and quality of the approach that connects them.
  • Break down large initiatives across business units to surface complexity, dependencies, sequencing constraints, and technical and customer experience considerations early.
  • Set the approach for initiatives that scale across customer-facing and enterprise property technology, connecting the resident and associate experience to the systems and workflows behind it so decisions in one domain account for their effect on the other.
  • Frame trade-off decisions, bring a clear recommendation to business leaders, and give teams the clarity to move forward once a decision is made.
  • Maintain a working understanding of technical architecture and delivery constraints so you can weigh trade-offs credibly with engineering.
  • Apply sound product principles to unfamiliar domains and adapt quickly to new business areas and technologies.
  • Embed with teams as a focused strategic resource help unblock decisions and resolve cross-team conflicts, keep work moving with a bias to action, and build momentum without creating dependency on you.
  •  Transition out once the work is stable, leaving behind durable artifacts such as approach definitions, dependency maps, decision records, and playbooks.
  • Identify shared needs across product areas and set the frameworks, standards, and guidance for strategy, discovery, prioritization, and outcome measurement that solve them at scale.
  • Present and align stakeholders on strategy and approach, translating risk, dependency, and technical trade-offs into clear choices for audiences from executives to individual contributors. Facilitate strategy reviews and working sessions, drive conversations toward decisions, and help everyone commit once direction is set.
  • Coach product leads and product managers at multiple levels in framing outcomes, managing dependencies, and communicating strategy, helping them grow in depth and expand their reach.

What You Bring
  • 10+ years of product management experience, with a demonstrated record of impact beyond a single team or product area.
  • Experience defining the product approach for complex, cross-functional initiatives that span multiple business units and technical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with executive leadership to help define outcomes, shape strategy, and secure alignment.
  • Experience across both consumer-facing and internal or operational software, or a clear ability to bridge them.
  • Strong technical fluency: you can engage with engineers on architecture, integrations, and trade-offs, and understand the constraints that shape what is possible.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, including proposals that have influenced direction at a department or company level.
  • A track record of coaching and developing product managers and cross-functional partners.
  • A drive to raise the bar for yourself, the standards you champion, and the people you develop.
  • A degree or equivalent practical experience.
