We've grown from a single loans product into a multi-product lending and spending platform, and every product on it runs on the same handful of shared capabilities: the customer data we hold, the interactions with third parties like credit agencies & open banking, identity and access that keeps it all secure, CRM that keeps our customer facing teams running, and the engineering platform everything is built with. Get those right and all the other teams are faster, happier and more productive!
This role is the Principal PM leading this platform. This role reports into our Head of Engineering for Platform Capabilities, as the Product Lead across our platform capabilities.
Really understanding our internal customers like Risk, Operations, Sales and other Engineering teams; not just other Product teams. They have competing priorities and don't always neatly align. Working out what to build means understanding several functions properly, seeing where they're going, and making the call for the future of Funding Circle
Set the strategy and roadmap for the platform capabilities the rest of the company builds on. Identity and access, the services that tell every team who a customer is and the engineering platform that makes our products tick
Owning migrations and deciding when this option makes sense, and when it does committing and getting teams off the old version of something and onto the new one. This is often where platform work succeeds or fails
Partner with Architecture, Product Engineering and with the Product leads on Loans, FlexiPay and Cards, so your roadmap and theirs are one aligned conversation
Large focus on regular discovery with other functions, on the change management that gets them to adopt, and on deciding what to build next
Success in this role will be measured on whether the teams using these capabilities ship faster, whether they can solve their own problems without coming to you, and whether the migrations you start actually finish
Experience owning something other teams depended on by earning their adoption; not mandating it
Enough technical depth for a straight conversation with Engineers about trade-offs, interfaces, and what a migration will cost, without losing sight of when to hand off technical decisions to them
You can hold your own with Risk, Operations or Sales, with no authority over any of them. You go and find their next problem. You don't wait for a ticket
Considered as AI-native, having built with Claude Code or Codex or similar, and you bring that into how you and your team design and build to support and not replace the core disciplines and values of good product management
Ability to write and present clearly enough to get Architecture, Engineering, and Product leadership behind the same roadmap
Experience working in fintech, or another regulated business with operational complexity
Experiecne running a migration off a system people were attached to, and lived to tell the tale
Strong understanding of the complexities of a regulated business and treat auditability and data protection as design constraints, not a review at the end

- Experience owning a platform or capability that other teams depended on, earning adoption through influence rather than mandate.
- Technical depth to discuss trade-offs, interfaces, and migration costs with engineers while knowing when to defer technical decisions.
- Ability to identify and address problems across Risk, Operations, Sales, and Engineering without direct authority.
- Experience using AI-native tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar in product development.
- Ability to write and present clearly enough to align Architecture, Engineering, and Product leadership.
- Experience working in fintech or another regulated business with operational complexity.
- Experience leading migrations away from an existing system.
- Strong understanding of regulated-business complexity, auditability, and data protection as design constraints.
