We are seeking a Principal Hardware Engineer to lead the architecture, design, and technical execution of enterprise-class wireless router platforms. This role owns end-to-end hardware design decisions across cellular, Wi-Fi, high-speed digital, power, thermal, and regulatory domains, and serves as the technical authority for complex hardware programs delivered through JDM partners.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role that drives long-term hardware platform strategy across multiple product generations, requiring deep system knowledge, strong judgment, and the ability to balance performance, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and long-term supply risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Own system-level hardware architecture from concept through production
- Lead platform decisions across 5G modems, Wi-Fi (2.4/5/6 GHz), DDR4/LPDDR memory, Ethernet, power, and thermal
- Drive and review schematic design, PCB layout, and SI/PI tradeoffs for high-speed, mixed-signal systems
- Lead bring-up, validation, and complex debug across prototypes and production hardware
- Act as the technical authority with JDM partners, ensuring design intent, quality, and execution
- Mentor senior and mid-level hardware engineers
- Partner closely with firmware, RF, mechanical design, manufacturing, sourcing, and product management teams to deliver robust products at scale
Qualifications
- 15+ years of hands-on architecture leadership and hardware design experience in embedded, networking, or wireless products
- Proven experience leading system-level architecture for complex hardware platforms
- Strong background in high-speed digital design, memory systems, power management, and thermal design
- Experience leading designs delivered through JDM partners, including hands-on ownership of factory test strategy and manufacturing scale-up from NPI through volume production and sustaining engineering
- Demonstrated ability to make and defend system-level tradeoffs across performance, cost, reliability, and lifecycle
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
