We are looking for a Principal Software Engineering Manager to lead a significant engineering area. You will lead through teams and senior technical leaders, combining deep technical judgment, organizational leadership, and end-to-end accountability for customer outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and grow engineering teams and senior technical leaders.
- Own engineering strategy, architecture, execution, and operational excellence across a major product area.
- Drive end-to-end systems ownership, moving beyond individual component boundaries.
- Raise the bar on reliability, security, quality, scalability, and engineering velocity.
- Build an AI-native engineering culture, using agentic engineering, evidence-based debugging, and automated validation to improve engineering outcomes.
- Partner across IC3, M365 Core, and dependent teams to drive technical alignment and deliver customer impact.
- Attract, develop, and retain exceptional engineering talent.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- OR equivalent experience.
Additional or preferred qualifications
Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Significant experience building and operating large-scale cloud/distributed systems.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams and developing engineering leaders.
- Solid technical judgment across architecture, reliability, security, and service engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-team engineering initiatives.
