The Role

TITLE: Principal Engineer II
LOCATION: Greenwood Village, CO
JOB SUMMARY: Design and standardize network solutions with Charter's Advanced Engineering team. Perform engineering activities that maintain and enhance the company's telecommunications and signal processing hardware, software and electrical systems. Work closely with technical operations staff on system design and configuration. Collaborate with design teams and advises team leaders. Support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience. Support complex and critical projects that involve various technical systems and constituents. Design, implement, monitor, enhance, and troubleshoot systems in assigned areas. Integrate and schematically depict communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations. Evaluate new products and perform network problem resolution. Develop and document technical standards and test and review system designs. Develop and implement approved methods of procedure. Design and establish protocol compatibility standards. Develop and implement network enhancements and make recommendations for improvement. Support projects, systems, and issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration, and optimization. Analyze and revise existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary. Provide Engineering Technical support and guidance to regional personnel. Ensure all technical integration, changes, standards and documentation are met. Mentor and guide the work of senior technical staff. Review work plans and designs and advise on improvements. Utilize Cisco series hardware (ASR9K, CRS, Nexus 9K, or 4000 series) and Cisco series software (NX-OS, IOS, IOS-XR, or IOS-XE). Configure and troubleshoot unicast and multicast traffic in a production network environment utilizing Cisco platforms. Create design documentation using Visio. Utilize Juniper series hardware (SRX, EX, MX, or QFX) operating with Juniper Operating System (JUNOS). Support a service provider network providing operational and network design solutions. Utilize Arista series hardware (7000 or 700 series) with Arista operating platform (EOS) within a production environment; and Python scripting to develop, test, and deploy network automation software.
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS: 7 years of experience: utilizing at least one of the following Cisco series hardware (ASR9K, CRS, Nexus 9K, or 4000 series); configuring and troubleshooting unicast and multicast traffic in a production network environment utilizing Cisco platforms; utilizing at least one of the following Cisco series software (NX-OS, IOS, IOS-XR, or IOS-XE); and creating design documentation using Visio. 5 years of experience utilizing at least one of the following Juniper series hardware (SRX, EX, MX, or QFX) operating with Juniper Operating System (JUNOS). 4 years of experience working in a service provider network providing operational and network design solutions. 3 years of experience utilizing: at least one of the following Arista series hardware (7000 or 700 series) with Arista operating platform (EOS) within a production environment; and Python scripting to develop, test, and deploy network automation software.
OR
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or a related field. 5 years of experience: utilizing at least one of the following Cisco series hardware (ASR9K, CRS, Nexus 9K, or 4000 series); configuring and troubleshooting unicast and multicast traffic in a production network environment utilizing Cisco platforms; utilizing at least one of the following Cisco series software (NX-OS, IOS, IOS-XR, or IOS-XE); and creating design documentation using Visio. 3 years of experience utilizing at least one of the following Juniper series hardware (SRX, EX, MX, or QFX) operating with Juniper Operating System (JUNOS). 2 years of experience working in a service provider network providing operational and network design solutions. 1 year of experience: utilizing at least one of the following Arista series hardware (7000 or 700 series) with Arista operating platform (EOS) within a production environment; and utilizing Python scripting to develop, test, and deploy network automation software.
Salaries depend on geography, experience, and education; negotiations begin at $124,000 per year.

The pay for this position has a salary range of
$124,000.00 to $220,000.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
