Are you ready to leverage your expertise in private multi-cloud infrastructure to lead the creation and management of robust cloud solutions as a Principal Engineer I? We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong focus on on-premises environments and AWS. Your primary responsibilities will include deploying, managing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure using tools like Kubernetes, Rancher, Ansible, Terraform, YAML, Helm, CI/CD pipelines, GitLab, Python, and a solid understanding of OS platforms. A good grasp of Infrastructure as a Service and Container as a Service is also essential.
WHAT OUR PRINCIPAL ENGINEERS ENJOY MOST In addition to the core responsibilities and requirements for a Principal Engineer I, duties and requirements specific to the Platform Automation role include:
  • Expertise with containerization platforms like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes
  • Cloud Infrastructure management: Install, deploy, and manage on-premises cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security
  • Configuration Management: Utilize YAML and Helm charts to manage configuration and deployment
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cluster provisioning and security
  • Monitor clusters and troubleshoot issues related to infrastructure, ensuring high availability and reliability
  • Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices and ensure compliance and parity with production
  • Ability to collaborate with Architecture teams, outline lab requirements, and consume releases to lab
  • Good working experience with on-prem environments (Vcenter) and Infrastructure-as-a-service
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning
  • Automate repetitive tasks and streamline processes to enhance operational efficiency
  • Understanding of cloud computing concepts, AWS services, and virtualization technologies

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years engineering work experience
    • 5+ years project management work experience
  • Skills:
    • Expert level knowledge with Kubernetes, OS platforms, Linux, GitLab, Ansible and Terraform deployment and automation
    • Establish and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitLab for automated testing, building, and deployment processes
    • Proven experience 5 years in managing on-premises cloud infrastructure
    • Proficiency in YAML, Helm, CI/CD pipelines, GitLab, and Python
    • Strong understanding of virtualization technologies and virtual machines
    • Expert knowledge in containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
    • Basic knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
    • Basic knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
    • Basic knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model
    • Basic knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.
    • Basic knowledge of network devices and basic network appliances Basic knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with all levels of business users in a professional manner.
    • Extensive experience with collaborating and building team consensus when interacting with both the leadership and the implementation teams.
  • Abilities:
    • Ability to read, write and speak the English language
    • Ability to use personal computer and software applications
    • Ability to perform duties in a very fast paced environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
  • Travel Ability: Office environment

The base pay for this position generally is between
$110,800.00 and $196,400.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
