About the Role:
As a Principal CX/UX Designer for the Tax & Accounting API Developer Platform, you will lead the design of the experiences developers use to discover, evaluate, integrate, and operate our APIs. You will make complex technical and tax and accounting capabilities clear and dependable across API contracts, documentation, developer portals, SDKs, and AI workflows. As a senior individual contributor, you will stay close to the work and lead through influence across Product, Engineering, and senior leadership. You will also partner with teams across the company to drive consistent API patterns and standards. This role calls for deep UX expertise and the technical fluency to make sure our APIs are built around real developer needs.
Hybrid: Eight days a month we come together in the closest office (CT/ET time zone) within 50 miles to experience the value of connecting with colleagues. Skills:
• Experience: 10+ years in UX or product design leading complex B2B, enterprise, or developer platform products, with a portfolio that shows measurable impact.
• Developer Experience: Proven experience leading the design of APIs, developer portals, SDKs, or documentation.
• Technical Fluency: Working knowledge of API concepts such as REST, authentication, and error handling, and the credibility to shape decisions with engineers.

Responsibilities:
• Lead the design vision and strategy for the API Developer Platform, including APIs, developer portals, documentation, SDKs, and AI tools.
• Partner with Product and Engineering early to shape API contracts and roadmap decisions around real developer scenarios.
• Lead research with developers, administrators, and partners, and validate designs through prototypes and usability testing.
• Design the full developer journey, from discovery and authentication to the first successful API call, debugging, and monitoring.
• Drive consistent API patterns across the design organization, including documentation, code examples, errors, and permissions.
• Partner with engineers through implementation and iterate based on real usage.
• Define and track measures such as time to first successful API call, adoption, and developer satisfaction.
• Use AI tools thoughtfully to speed up research and prototyping while keeping people accountable for decisions.
• Influence senior stakeholders and build alignment across product and organization lines on a durable, developer centered platform experience.
• Mentor designers and raise technical design fluency across the team.

Compensation:
$133,400.00 - $238,400.00 USDThis role is eligible for Bonus.
Compensation range listed is based on primary location of the position. Actual base salary offer is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skills, experience and actual hiring location.
