Job Summary
The Principal Consultant’s primary responsibility is to leverage strong technical skills (SQL, R, Python, and Tableau) and healthcare industry knowledge (payor, provider, pharmacy, public health, epidemiology, etc.) to support and enhance client-facing engagements with HCSC’s largest Commercial customers.
The incumbent will be accountable for the analytic support and consultancy for HCSCs largest Commercial Clients and advisory for internal senior-leader stakeholders related to population health and insurance.
-This is a hybrid role that requires a minimum of three (3) days in-office visibility per week in a posted HCSC office on an ongoing basis.-HCSC cannot consider candidates for this role who do or will require sponsorship for employment authorization, from any entity, now or at any time in the future (e.g., current F1 and OPT/CPT status, H1-B transfer, etc.).
Required Job Qualifications:
1.
A. Bachelor’s degree and eight (8) years of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics, or
B. Master’s degree with six (6) years of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics, or
C. PhD with four (4) years of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics.
2. Six (6) years’ experience in analyzing medical claims data.
3. Understanding, and being highly proficient at querying, a wide variety of healthcare data and related population data to construct a robust, accurate, 360-view data environment that is unique to each client:
-medical/pharmacy claims,
-behavioral health claims,
-health care management (HCM) records,
-electronic medical records (EMR),
-provider databases (AMA, NPI, DEA, etc.),
-member/patient demographic data,
-and publicly available databases (U.S. Census, Bureau of Labor Statistics, NIH, etc.).
4. Performance excellence in one or more of the following computer languages:
SQL, SAS, R, Python.
5. Ability to create a dynamic and visually engaging dashboard in Tableau and summary level views in PowerPoint.
6. Acquaintance with version control/collaborative tools such as GitHub.
7. High degree of business intelligence and understanding how to take a business case from inception to client execution.
8. Performance excellence in championing initiatives and collaborating with multiple stakeholders to bring the initiative to life.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Proficient in and ability to speak to Uniform Data Specifications (UDS) and how the results can vary.
Advanced degree
Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Engineering, Business
Employing techniques such as a case-control study, regression analyses, principal component analyses, clustering exercises, propensity scoring, classification, ROI calculation, etc. to produce actionable insights.
Performance excellence in presenting to and influencing the decision making of C-Suite Executives
Understanding of Agile and Waterfall project management methods
Versed in automation tools such as Alteryx.

Base Pay Range$97,600.00 - $176,300.00
