Pay Range

$17.25 – $26.00 per hour 

The compensation range listed above represents the good-faith range Cary Medical Center anticipates relying upon when making an offer for this position. Starting pay is determined based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, certifications, internal equity, and market conditions.

Job Summary:

 Responsible for pre-planning appointments to ensure testing, procedures, and reports are completed and available for each patient visit. The Pre-Visit Planner promotes patient advocacy and collaborates with the Cancer Center team to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery. This position provides a proactive approach to care that ensures each visit is meaningful and well organized. 

Essential Job Duties: 

• Gathers necessary information for upcoming patient visits.

• Reviews referrals and follow up with outside providers or hospitals for health information that has not been received.

• Processes lab work, office procedures and make appointments for diagnostic or specialty testing.

• Assists with maintaining office and treatment schedule in regards to acuity and census.

• Demonstrates a systematic approach to Maintaining smooth flow in daily schedule between providers and patients.

• Pre-registers treatment patients and daily add-on patients.

• Processes requests for service for insurance requirements.

• Updates ordering Provider on office notes in timely manner.

• Assists with coordinating virtual appointments.

• Assists with treatment room lab checks and rescheduling patients as needed.

• Provides reminder calls to patients for appointments, labs and procedures.

• Maintains EMR, ensure that results are appropriately scanned into system.

• Responsible for maintaining EPIC work queues and upcoming lab/testing orders.

• Reviews and obtain necessary pre-authorization approval for patients, communicating this information to staff  involved in the patient’s care.                       

• Maintains pre-authorization log, providing proactive approach and initiative consistently; primarily with VA patients.

• Acts as back-up staff for patient registration, infusion suite CNA, cross-training with applicable duties.

• Administers care according to established standards and hospital policy.

• Provides compassionate care to the hematology and oncology patient population.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Complies with local, state and federal laws and regulations.

Requirements

Education or License:

  • Current Nursing Assistant Certification for the State of Maine is preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred

Availability: 

  • Depending on department staffing needs, you may be asked to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
