We are seeking an experienced Pre-Sales Engineer to lead the technical aspects of customer engagements around Confluent's Data Streaming platform.
This role combines deep technical expertise with strong business acumen and requires the ability to engage with both technical and executive stakeholders. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor throughout the sales cycle, helping customers understand how real-time data streaming solutions can address business and technical challenges.
The role includes solution design, technical discovery, architecture discussions, demonstrations, Proof of Concept (POC) ownership, and close collaboration with sales, engineering, and product teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Sales teams to drive the technical evaluation process for prospective customers.
- Conduct discovery workshops to understand customer business objectives, technical environments, and data-related challenges.
- Design and present end-to-end solutions based on Confluent and Apache Kafka technologies.
- Lead technical discussions with architects, engineering teams, platform owners, and executive stakeholders.
- Deliver product demonstrations, workshops, and technical presentations.
- Scope, execute, and manage Proof of Concept engagements.
- Develop trusted relationships with customers throughout the sales cycle and beyond.
- Advise customers on best practices related to Data Streaming, Event-Driven Architecture, and modern data platforms.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management and Engineering teams to provide customer feedback and support product adoption.
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and the broader streaming data ecosystem.
- 5+ years of experience as a Pre-Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or a similar customer-facing technical role.
- Deep expertise with Confluent Platform and Confluent Cloud.
- Proven experience working with Enterprise customers and managing complex technical sales cycles.
- Strong understanding of Apache Kafka, Data Streaming platforms, Event-Driven Architecture, and Messaging technologies.
- Experience leading discovery sessions, technical workshops, customer presentations, product demonstrations, and POCs.
- Strong understanding of modern cloud and data architectures.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Exceptional presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on experience with Confluent Platform and/or extensive experience designing Kafka-based solutions.
