In this position... 

The Powertrain Test Engineer will be responsible for battery and end-of-line (EOL) testing, software and application development, vendor coordination, and support for new product development and prototype builds.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison with Product Engineering on powertrain testing matters
  • Develop and program WMA test sequences for: 
    • E-Transaxle EOL final test
    • Transmission EOL final test, main control (oil cal test), and leak test
    • Axle NVH test
    • Battery builds and EOL final testing
  • Maintain consistency of WMA test sequence programs across all test machines
  • Perform calibration of test instrumentation
  • Evaluate test stand requirements for new products and technologies, including cost studies 
    • Lead procurement of test stand equipment to support new programs
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Controls, Safety, Industrial Engineering, Body & Frame, and Product Development
  • Coordinate setup of test stands for new programs, including pallets, perishable items, and stand hardware/controls
  • Diagnose and resolve testing issues, and share solutions across all applicable programs
  • Conduct daily statistical analysis of prototype production defects
  • Partner with the build team to ensure efficient test stand operation
  • Manage CIB funds and identify future equipment and technology needs
  • Coordinate with skilled trades to maintain and service test stands
  • Adhere to Ford Production System (FPS) principles
  • Follow Prototype and PTME Quality Operating System (QOS) standards
  • Support weekly CPMT/TPMT meetings
  • Identify and address gaps in testing equipment and processes
  • Develop testing methods for new product components
Qualifications

  You'll have...

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in transmission/axle testing
  • 3+ years of experience with software applications
  • 1+ years of experience with various test processes (e.g., leak test, in-process test, EOL final test)

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $74,300-$124,500., This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900., This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200. 

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
