Job Responsibilities:

Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of automotive components and assemblies. This role works closely with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to support new product launches, improve productivity, reduce waste, and maintain high quality standards. The Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in driving continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with customer and industry requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes and production methods.
  • Support new product launches and engineering change activities.
  • Analyze production processes and identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and cost performance.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Design and improve tooling, fixtures, workstations, and production layouts.
  • Collaborate with quality teams to resolve product and process concerns.
  • Support APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and other automotive quality requirements.
  • Conduct time studies, capacity analysis, and workflow improvements.
  • Assist with equipment selection, installation, and validation activities.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions and process specifications.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators related to safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, safety standards, and company policies.

Education and Experience:

Education/Special Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering field required.
  • 2–5 years of manufacturing, process, or industrial engineering experience; automotive manufacturing experience preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience supporting production processes, process improvements, and new product launches.
  • Knowledge of automotive quality standards and core tools, including APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and SPC.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.

Special Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity with manufacturing equipment, tooling, automation, and production systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, Microsoft Office applications, and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Six Sigma certification or related engineering certifications are a plus.

  • Work is performed in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Regularly sits, stands, walks, and uses a computer and standard office equipment.
  • Frequently walks production floors to observe processes, support operations, and troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
  • Communicate regularly with employees, supervisors, suppliers, and customers.
  • Occasionally bends, reaches, climbs stairs, and works near manufacturing equipment.
  • May lift or carry tools, parts, or materials up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to review engineering drawings, technical documents, reports, and computer screens for extended periods.
  • May travel occasionally to customer, supplier, or company locations as needed.
