We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator with strong expertise in PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server to join our development team. This position will be full-time and Hybrid - Bangalore.
What You’ll Do
Perform routine database maintenance including indexing, vacuuming (PostgreSQL), and statistics updates to ensure optimal performance
Monitor and manage database health, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks and idle/long-running queries
Design and implement data purging strategies to manage storage and maintain performance at scale
Set up, schedule, and monitor database jobs and automated maintenance tasks
Collaborate closely with the development team to support database changes and enhancements aligned with application requirements
Review and optimize existing stored procedures, indexes, and table structures for performance and correctness
Write, test, and maintain complex stored procedures, views, and functions across PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server
Define and enforce database development standards across the team, including schema design, indexing strategy, key constraints, and naming conventions
Contribute to the design and validation of any feature that touches the data layer, ensuring data-layer decisions are sound from the outset
What You'll Need
Required:
8+ years of experience in PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server
Proven experience in database maintenance, performance optimization, and troubleshooting
Strong ability to write, test, and optimize stored procedures and queries
Knowledge of data purging strategies and automated maintenance tasks
Preferred
Experience collaborating with development teams on application-side database enhancements
Familiarity with database standards, governance, and schema design
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions
Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
