Job Title: People Operations Manager
Department: Talent Operations
Location: Overland Park, KS (Kansas City metro), in office
Employment Type: Full-time
Hi, we're Steadily. We're building the easiest way for landlords to insure their rental properties. We're a Series C company, we've landed on Forbes' Best Startup Employers list and the Inc. 5000, and we're growing fast.
That growth is great. It also means someone needs to keep the whole machine running smoothly. That's where you come in.
We're hiring a People Operations Manager to own the people side of Steadily. HR, benefits, onboarding, compliance, the office, and yes, the occasional laptop that refuses to connect to Wi-Fi. If it helps our people do their best work, it's probably yours.
This isn't an HR coordinator role where someone hands you a checklist. You'll be the first call when something needs figuring out, and you'll build the systems that keep us organized as headcount climbs.
You'll report to the Director of Talent and work closely with our COO and leaders across every team.
What You'll OwnPeople Ops, end to end. Employee relations, performance support, leave and accommodations, investigations, documentation, compliance, and the full employee lifecycle from offer letter to offboarding.
Systems that scale. Onboarding, policies, workflows, documentation. You'll build the structure that lets a fast company stay fast without getting messy.
Being a trusted partner to leadership. Managers and founders will lean on you for tricky people situations. You'll help them handle things well, keep accountability high, and spot issues before they become problems.
Benefits. Enrollment, employee questions, open enrollment, and renewals with brokers and vendors. You're the person who makes benefits make sense.
First line IT. Laptop setup, common troubleshooting, and wrangling vendors when something's bigger than a restart. Nobody stays stuck for long.
Licensing and renewals. Own licensing for team members who need it, plus the tracking for renewals, continuing education, and deadlines. Nothing slips.
An office people like showing up to. Snacks, supplies, catering, furniture, vendors, upkeep. All the small details that make a workplace feel good.
The culture. Help us keep Steadily a place where strong people enjoy working hard and winning together.
5+ years in People Ops or HR. Ideally at a fast-growing company where you moved quickly and wore a lot of hats.
Real ownership. You can run HR with minimal oversight, make judgment calls, and build processes from scratch. You see what needs doing and you do it.
Organization that borders on a superpower. You juggle competing priorities, stay ahead of deadlines, and keep a lot of plates spinning without dropping any.
Discretion and good judgment. Sensitive situations don't rattle you. You handle them with maturity, care, and confidentiality.
Tech comfort. Software, systems, and setting up a laptop don't intimidate you. Bonus points if you've been the office's unofficial IT person before.
Low ego, high hustle. You're excited to join a company that's growing fast and want to grow right along with it.
You'd rather build the playbook than follow one
You like variety: a benefits question at 9, a laptop fix at 10, a leadership conversation at 11
A perfectly organized tracker brings you a little bit of joy
Top of market pay + equity in a high-growth Series C company
401(k) retirement plan
Comprehensive health, vision, and dental insurance
A modern office in Overland Park with snacks (you'll be in charge of them, so choose wisely)
