Job Overview
Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately and on-time with correct withholding and deductions. Duties of this position include payroll processing, reporting, and employee communication.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Assures that payroll-related transactions are processed in compliance with external and internal policies.
- Performs actions necessary to track and determine regular, overtime pay, bonuses and special payments.
- Processes and reviews tax withholdings, and other deductions.
- Maintains knowledge of rules and laws which govern the payroll and benefits administration.
- Reviews and processes payroll adjustments, including retro, paid time off and other time off.
- Reconciles errors and maintains payroll records.
- Fields and responds to payroll inquiries and resolves discrepancies as required.
- Other payroll-related tasks as assigned
Skill and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, Human Resources or related area preferred.
- At least 3-5 years of hourly payroll experience
- In-depth knowledge of FLSA
- (Preferred) Experience in manufacturing companies
- Advanced in Microsoft Office - Excel especially with V-Lookups, Pivot Tables
- Good understanding of payroll calculation such as overtime, shift payments, and others
- Ability to maintain payroll records and prepare payroll reports
- Ability to solve problems that routinely occur in payroll with standard procedures
- Ability to communicate information about payroll that requires some explanation or interpretation
Skills Required
