What your days might look like
We are seeking a highly ambitious PH Payroll Accountant to join our finance team.
As the PH Payroll Accountant, you will be a central member of the Finance team by ensuring our payroll and compliance obligations for the Philippines are delivered on time and accurately. Initially, you will be working with our external accounting firm to process payroll and related compliance, with the view to bring the entire process in-house in the short-term future. Once processes are set up the focus will shift to hands-on payroll preparation and ensuring we are proactively meeting our compliance obligations, as well as assisting with other accounting needs.
This role will cover the processing of two payroll streams - one for internal EH PH employees, the other for external Global Teams PH employees. Therefore, the PH Payroll Accountant will work closely with both internal and Global Teams People Operations and Finance teams to fulfil payroll deliverables.
The ideal candidate will be someone who is a great communicator with stakeholder management experience and a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment with lots of ambiguity.
This is a full time position supporting the APAC timezone (8.30am - 5.30pm PH time, Weekday Day Shifts)
As our Payroll Accountant, you'll be responsible for:
- Assist with payroll software selection and integration
- Hands on preparation of bi-monthly/off cycle payruns, including expense reimbursements, calculating termination pays, bonuses, leave benefits, sending payslips, loading payments into bank
- Prepare and pay monthly WTW submissions
- Preparation, filing, and remittance of payroll taxes and government contributions
- Annualisation of withholding taxes, preparation and submission of relevant BIR forms
- Processing payroll journals for all payruns
- Prepare relevant payroll-related balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with cashflow forecasting and reporting
- Main point of contact for payroll-related queries from internal employees, GT employees, external advisors etc
- Identify improvement opportunities and implement strategies, processes and controls to enhance business efficiency
What you'll bring:
- CA/CPA qualified, with at least 3-5 years working experience
- Experience with Philippines payroll legislation and compliance a must; experience with other regions would be advantageous
- Experience of managing accounting & non accounting projects such as software implementation, process improvements & more
- Intermediate to Advanced experience with Excel/Google Sheets
- Experience with Netsuite, Sprout/Sunfish Payroll would be advantageous
- Experience with ESOP would be advantageous
- Strong planning and organisational skills with aptitude to learn and complete work within agreed deadlines
- Have strong communication and stakeholder management skills to work with various internal and external partners with varying levels of payroll/finance knowledge
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision in an environment of fast growth and ambiguity
- Possess excellent decision making and problem-solving skills
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
