Within the entity in charge of our merchant network (GMS), American Express Payment Europe has a team in charge of developing its network through strategic banking partnerships.
Through this channel, the Strategic Alliance Bank Partnership team recruits several thousand independent merchants each year throughout the country.
You will be responsible for managing one of its Bank Partners and developing its business of affiliating new merchants for AMEX. You will be responsible for identifying and implementing new opportunities that will contribute to the growth and overall profitability of the partnership. The objectives will focus on developing the partner's business, lead projects and implementing processes ensuring that the various acquisition methods comply with all regulatory requirements, and adding value to ensure the satisfaction and long-term viability of the partnership.
Responsibilities- Build and manage strong relationships with key stakeholders across bank partner organizations (Payments, Business Lines, Marketing, Operations, Back Office, etc.).
- Act as a central point of coordination, working closely with internal teams (Capabilities, Payment Consulting Group, Legal, Compliance, Operational Excellence, etc.) to drive partnership success and meet objectives.
- Translate partner needs and complex data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations that support growth.
- Consolidate and analyze commercial performance data to support decision-making and business reviews.
- Lead or contribute to cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving performance, processes, and client experience.
- Ensure the daily operational activity with the support of back office and servicing team
- Drive customer satisfaction by delivering high value across commercial, analytical, and operational dimensions.
- Navigate complexity with a medium and long-term view, managing multi-stakeholder environments and complex sales cycles with discipline and strategic focus.
- Driven team player who loves challenges with a positive attitude and flexibility
- Strong commercial acumen with a consultative approach and the ability to engage effectively from operational teams to C-level stakeholders
- Proven experience implementing and managing complex sales and strategic partnerships and delivering measurable results
- Solid background in banking or payments (merchant acquiring and/or issuing experience is a plus)
- Strong analytical skills; with the ability to turn data into insights (advanced Excel required)
- Ability to operate in strongly regulated and process-driven environments
- Experience leading or contributing to cross-functional projects
- Excellent communication skills with all type of audience; fluent in English and French
- Self-motivated and adaptable, able to manage multiple priorities effectively and deliver in a fast-paced environment
- 7–10 years of relevant experience in partnership management, sales, or consulting roles
