Job Details
The Oracle PL/SQL / APEX Developer I contributes to the development, maintenance, and optimization of Oracle-based applications within the Dutch healthcare, logistics, and pharmaceutical landscape. The role focuses primarily on backend PL/SQL development (85%), complemented by APEX front-end work (15%), ensuring stable, scalable, and secure applications that support operational processes.
Responsibilities:
Backend Development (≈85%)
- Develop and maintain PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, triggers.
- Execute efficient database queries aligned with performance standards.
- Implement Oracle XMLDB & JSON processing where needed.
- Develop integrations via REST APIs and secure connections (SSL/TLS).
- Support job scheduling, batch processing (Control-M, Oracle job scheduling).
- Follow best practices for Oracle security (roles, grants, privileges).
APEX Frontend Development (≈15%)
- Build user interfaces using Oracle APEX standard components.
- Implement APEX logic (dynamic actions, validations, processes).
- Apply accessibility and usability guidelines using HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
- Modify existing APEX screens and forms based on business requirements.
Data Model & Reporting
- Work with SMEs to understand underlying data structures and definitions.
- Contribute to logical data models, metadata, and interface requirements.
- Ensure data consistency and integrity across modules.
Application Lifecycle & Quality
- Conduct unit tests, integration tests, and debugging.
- Maintain documentation (technical designs, data dictionaries).
- Follow SDLC, DevOps practices, version control (Git/BitBucket).
- Identify basic improvement opportunities in code and processes.
Security & Compliance
- Apply secure coding practices following OWASP/NIST guidelines.
- Support audits related to data integrity and application security.
Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate with developers, SMEs, product owners, DBAs, and IT Ops.
- Provide clear communication using Office 365, Jira, Confluence.
Innovation & Continuous Learning
- Stay up to date with Oracle APEX developments and industry standards.
- Learn progressively to grow towards Developer II responsibilities
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent.
Work Experience:
- 1+ years of experience in Oracle PL/SQL development.
- Knowledge of Oracle APEX (basic-intermediate).
- Experience with SQL, PL/SQL, REST APIs.
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS/JS for APEX UI.
- Experience with Git/BitBucket, Jira, Confluence.
- Understanding of DevOps & Agile/Scrum ways of working.
