The Strategy & Market Intelligence Analyst is responsible for building and maintaining the analytical backbone underpinning World Courier's strategy. This role generates fact-based insights on market size, growth, competitive dynamics, and customer demand drivers, directly informing strategic decision-making across service lines, geographies, and priority initiatives.
The role requires strong analytical rigor, the ability to operate under ambiguity, and ownership of methodologies, data sources, and outputs. There will be considerable opportunity for on-the-job development - from more advanced analytical work to supporting high-impact strategic initiatives - making this an ideal position for an intellectually curious analyst looking to grow.
Responsibilities:
1. Market Sizing & Growth Analysis
- Build and maintain robust, fact-based market models across service lines, regions, and countries
- Triangulate multiple fragmented data sources to construct defensible views of market size and growth
- Clearly document assumptions, methodologies, and limitations of all analyses
- Identify growth opportunities, market gaps, and priority segments
2. Competitive Intelligence
Maintain a structured and continuously updated view of key competitors, including:
- Service offerings and capabilities
- Geographic footprint
- Strategic moves and partnerships
Identify emerging competitive patterns and capability gaps.
Translate competitor activity into clear implications for World Courier's strategic positioning.
Deliver insights through:
- Monthly market intelligence updates
- Quarterly deep-dive analyses
- Inputs into the annual strategy cycle
3. Market Share & Performance Tracking
Build and maintain a fact-based view of World Courier's market share across:
- Service lines
- Regions and countries
- Track performance versus market growth and competitive dynamics
- Proactively identify and flag areas of over- or under-performance
- Articulate potential root causes and strategic implications
4. Clinical Trials Market Intelligence
Analyze trends in clinical trial activity, including:
- Trial initiation and cancellation trends
- Study complexity and geographic footprint
- Lead times and operational dynamics
Translate market signals into implications for:
- Demand evolution
- Operational complexity
- Strategic positioning and innovation opportunities
5. Ad-Hoc Strategic Analysis
- Structure ambiguous problems into clear analytical frameworks
- Conduct analyses to support priority topics, including market assessments, M&A screening and strategic theses, and new service line or geographic evaluations
- Formulate evidence-based hypotheses and recommendations
- Produce clear, structured outputs suitable for senior stakeholders, landing key points and reaching the 'so what' of each analysis
6. Communication & Storytelling
- Support the creation of PowerPoint decks and presentation materials that communicate analytical results in compelling, insight-led ways
- Translate complexity into clear, concise narratives for both analytical and non-analytical audiences
- Serve as a key resource for interpreting data and information; communicate results proactively to team members and senior leaders
7. Data & Methodology Ownership
- Own and maintain documentation of key data sources, extraction processes, and analytical methodologies
- Ensure reproducibility and consistency of analyses across the team
- Identify data limitations, biases, and required adjustments (e.g., outlier treatment, smoothing)
- Continuously improve data quality and analytical approaches
- Utilise business intelligence tools across departments and functional areas to provide detailed reporting and analysis
8. Stakeholder Interaction & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Strategy Manager and Strategy team
- Engage with stakeholders across Finance, Sales, Services, and Operations
- Coordinate cross-functional project activities and ensure deliverables are accurate and meet stakeholder requirements
- Maintain and develop strong working relationships with business owners as a process and insights advocate

4. Essential Technical Skills
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills

5. Desirable Technical Skills
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server or Access) and data management
- Experience with object-oriented or scripting languages (e.g., Python, VBA)
- Experience with Alteryx Designer or similar data-preparation platforms
- Experience with statistical or mathematical packages (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS)
Work Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Strategy, Economics, Business, Life Sciences, Data Analytics, or a related field
- 2-5 years of experience in strategy, consulting, market intelligence, or analytical roles
- Experience in healthcare, life sciences, logistics, or complex B2B environments preferred
- Demonstrated experience building structured analyses from ambiguous inputs
- Evidence of a strong analytic mindset and intellectual curiosity is essential
