About the job
The Red Hat Business Unit (BU) is looking for a passionate and motivated Vice President, Products and Technologies (PnT) - Planning and Operations to join us. In this role, you will be responsible for defining and delivering the Red Hat PnT planning and operations strategy and report directly to the Head of Product. You'll be expected to manage significant changes across PnT in the areas of automation, workflow optimization, data governance, gap analysis, and enterprise-wide planning. In addition, you will be responsible for managing the BU level operations work like deal approvals, SKU creation, pricing implementation, and other programs. You will partner with key internal stakeholders in order to ensure the realization and implementation of defined strategic initiatives, in close collaboration with peer executives, the Corporate Leadership Team, Finance, and Sales.
As a Vice President, you will be a significant contributor to the executive management team while shaping, growing, developing, and leading a high profile organization and network. You'll need to be able to successfully navigate the complexity of the evolving business with the existing resources that offer scale and agility to the organization. To succeed in this role, you must provide vision, guidance, and tangible outcomes and identify areas for streamlining processes, increasing scalability, and efficiency. It is important that you have critical thinking skills along with a growth mindset, a solid ability to translate corporate strategies into deliverable tactics, and a dynamic work ethic that defines the core of Red Hat and the leadership team. You need to be solutions-oriented and work closely with all disciplines including Sales, PnT, Marketing, Finance, IT, Legal, and HR teams to accelerate defined initiatives. The preferred location for this role is in the U.S.
What you will do

  • Manage a streamlined and data driven decision making culture, balancing theoretical with pragmatic to guide toward actions based on data insights
  • Manage planning and operations across PnT while working in close partnership with Field teams to ensure alignment, progress, and tracking on shared objectives
  • Partner with Sales and PnT, including their Partner and Alliances organizations, to ensure consistent enforcement and adoption of key business architecture principles across go-to-market delivery
  • Make it easy for customers to transact business with Red Hat, while maintaining appropriate margins and risk levels
  • Establish team goals and monitor achievement, taking necessary action to ensure targets are achieved
  • Manage functional and enterprise-wide long term strategic planning and cross-functional capability, ensuring internal alignment with Sales, PnT, Marketing, and corporate functions
  • Provide insights to the long term economic impact of decisions and positions, as well as test hypotheses to evaluate alternative approaches to reach goals from the business and offer perspectives for consideration
  • Extend usage of existing data sets and develop novel ways to evaluate our business in a way that meets the growing demand for data and insights that are consistent and easy to consume and understand
  • Support PnT's organizational collaboration with technical counterparts at IBM like IBM Research and other teams
  • Support and participate in the establishment of a multi-year strategic plan with full cross functional input and collaboration and tie measurements against the fulfillment of the plan across the company
  • Work with the Corporate Development and Strategy team in planning, creating, and delivering key strategies that transcend multiple areas, like Strategic Partnerships, Business Architecture, and IBM Offerings Synergy and Corp Development, backed by a solid analytical and data-driven approach
  • Manage miscellaneous initiatives for PnT including preparation for key meetings, initiative updates, and various forums, to scale into highly business critical imperatives
  • Identify new business opportunities and test alternatives and decompose problems into consumable and deliverable phases
  • Provide empathic, disciplined, ethical, and focused leadership to foster success based on respect for customers, associates, and other Red Hat stakeholders that is consistent with and supportive of our unique open culture


What you will bring

  • 10+ years of experience including 5+ years strategic leadership in a fast-growing environment
  • Experience directing, managing, and growing a matrixed organization for a multi-faceted organization while consistently increasing results
  • Industry experience in software or technology
  • Ability to understand and implement scalable activities toward implementation of corporate strategy
  • History of building and leading best-in-class teams by creating loyalty, trust, and commitment to organizational goals
  • Strategic and tactical executive with a clear ability to act as a change agent and professionally and resourcefully make an impact on the organization
  • Excellent planning and analytical skills; proven ability to apply these skills with business acumen to complex situations with competing priorities
  • Proven ability to partner with senior business leaders to understand needs and deliver solutions that exceed expectations
  • Outstanding organizational leadership skills including excellent written and verbal communication skills, external relationships, respectful treatment of employees at all levels--a leader that builds through teamwork, motivation, and energy
  • Ability to practice a disciplined process for developing talent on an ongoing basis.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related discipline; Master's degree is a plus
