Purpose:

The DC Sr. Operations Manager will provide leadership and supervision for Operational activities in the Distribution Center as assigned by the General Manager. The Sr. Operations Manager will have responsibilities in Logistics Operations, Warehouse Operations and/or Yard Operations and will have responsibilities in area(s) of operations requiring continuous improvement such as Inventory Control, P&L, Employee Engagement and retention.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in General Business or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company
  • Three to five years of relevant experience required (relevant experience can be substituted for the required education on the basis of one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education)
  • Industry experience in a warehouse or distribution center preferred
  • Proven track record of delivering results, managing teams, and continuous improvement
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety regulations
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills and work well under pressure
  • Proficiency with software applications and transportation systems
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Warehouse Management System experience (Manhattan preferred)
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently, and/or within a team, across all levels and diverse cultures, and the ability to lead team projects
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • FTZ knowledge and experience
  • Must pass pre-employment background check



Essential Job Functions:

  • Follow operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, inventory management and control, and safety training
  • Develop strategies to streamline processes and reduce cost - coordinating with Processes Systems group.
  • Work within a Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • Coordinate with NAL Analyst on optimization of daily inbound processes with dray and domestic providers.
  • Assist General Manager with the evaluation of the effectiveness of and recommends alternatives for work methods, procedures, controls, and staffing to achieve accurate and timely movement and processing of product; manage to ensure facility layout is optimally aligned for maximum efficiency as inventory needs require.
  • Recruit, manage and develop workers to carryout daily operations of the facility
  • Coaches, trains and develops employees informally and through formal training programs, providing both informal (e.g. on-floor caching) and formal (e.g. written evaluation) job performance-based feedback.
  • Ensures a culture of safety throughout the facility by enforcing safety policies and procedures and monitors facility safety, physical security and operational metrics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Receive shipment tenders from store support planning team and work with DC operations to plan daily OB shipments with carriers.
  • Ship and track outbound shipments to DC and troubleshoot delivery issues, in .
  • Report key performance metrics of OB carriers and IB dray providers to Director of NA Logistics
  • Ensure proper record keeping of training and safety programs
  • Partner with the General Manager on P&L management and continuous improvement.
  • Confirm that the DC is at all times FTZ compliant, and prepared for Customs office visits and inspections.
  • Work with HR Partners for consistent adherence to attendance, company policy and performance management expectations.
  • Coordinate as needed with Systems and Inventory team to assure DC is working within guidelines and a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Follow, communicate and serve as a role model for company policies, procedures and F&D organizational goals.
  • Reinforce Company's Mission, Vision and Values thru consistent team management practices.
  • Other duties may be assigned as appropriate and in accordance with business needs, such as inventory control.



Working Conditions (travel & environment)

  • This position is salaried, knowing it may include hours which exceed eight hours in a day or forty hours in a week. Working hours are subject to change due to business needs and working am and/or pm flexible shifts.
  • Occasional travel required including air and car travel, including travel to other DC's or the SSC as needed.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to noisy.



PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIREMENTS

Medium Work - Ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. The employee is often required to use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
