Job Description

Position Overview

As Senior Manager, Category Management, you are responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the Category Management group. In this role, you will develop and execute category plans to drive improvements in supplier quality, total cost effectiveness, supplier service levels, coordination, delivery, pricing, lead-times, payments and risk mitigation. In addition, you will execute category sourcing strategies including development and implementation of RFIs and RFPs, selection criteria, supplier negotiation and ongoing supplier management. You will also engage with operations, production, sales and other cross-functional teams to ensure ongoing alignment and support of category management goals and objectives as well as provide leadership for both direct and indirect categories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the activities of Category Management teams and subordinate managers.
  • Ensure development and application of advantageous sourcing strategies.
  • Own the development and execution of strategies related to tactical procurement, spot buy and purchasing activity.
  • Identify profitable suppliers and initiate business and organizational partnerships.
  • Negotiate with vendors and suppliers to secure mutually beneficial terms.
  • Engage with vendors and suppliers to reduce lead time and minimize inventory exposure.
  • Collaborate with line and business managers to develop Category Management objectives (cycle time, replenishment and delivery schedules, cost parameters).
  • Monitor procurement outcomes to ensure key objectives are met and costs are held in check.
  • Identify and resolve emerging issues.
  • Measure and assess the effectiveness of Supply Chain processes and procedures related to key strategies.
  • Recommend and implement new and innovative initiatives to drive improved performance.

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS undergraduate degree
  • 8 years of progressive commodity/supply chain management experience; Deep Real Estate and Travel category management experience
  • 5 years of managing teams
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills, including a working understanding of contractual terms and conditions and risk mitigation.
  • Highly organized and efficient in planning and execution of complex, cross-functional projects and tasks.
  • Self-starter within assigned responsibilities.
  • Solid business/financial acumen.
  • Ability to perform in fast paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professional certification preferred (CSCP, CPM, PMP, CQM, or equivalent).
  • Ability to influence up, down and across.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual: English and Spanish.
  • Experience in use of ERP systems and e-procurement systems.
  • Green Belt certified
