The Axon business is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a dedicated and proven Public Safety Training & PSAP Specialist to join our Axon Change Team (ACT) in the Professional Services Organization. You will be a key builder, shaping how we enable and scale the capabilities of our Public Safety partners as they lead the way to use digital transformation to protect life.
You will be instrumental in helping to deliver the training and implementation for our Public Safety SaaS customers. You will partner with subject matter experts across the company and within the client agencies to capture key content, chart training plans, develop training materials, plan training/go-live logistics, and deliver cutting-edge technology training courses that enable our clients to optimize the use of Axon's leading-edge SaaS Public Safety solutions. You will employ your creativity to ideate training solutions that are both customized and standardized for agencies with differing ways of serving their communities. You will build tools that support our clients to successfully manage and navigate this major change within their agencies. The programs that you deliver will have an impact on thousands of Public Safety organizations around the world.
Your Day-to-Day
As our Public Safety Training & CAD Specialist You Will
Join the Axon Change Team (ACT) to consult with product engineers, program managers, and our clients in order to build and deliver training and enablement programs that support the successful implementation of Axon's Public Safety Software Solutions.

  • Provide Public Safety subject matter/industry expertise (particularly law enforcement Records Management and 9-1-1 CAD/Dispatch) to our entire Change Team and software product engineers
  • Employ your creativity to ideate training and implementation strategies that are both customized and standardized for agencies with differing ways of serving their communities
  • Partner with our PSAP and LE client agencies to understand their business processes, organizational needs, and how our products achieve their digital transformation objectives
  • Partner with subject matter experts to clearly define learning objectives and content required for Law Enforcement and PSAP training programs
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain training plans and instructional materials for Public Safety software deployments using effective instructional design methodologies and technologies
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of all PSAP and LE training and deployment activities
  • Manage training content/product updates to ensure consistency and accuracy in a rapidly changing high-tech software development environment
  • Work on the front lines everyday supporting Public Safety agencies to transform the systems at the core of their daily operations
  • Serve as an advocate for very diverse client agency needs throughout the project implementation lifecycle
  • Communicate training and deployment plans, activities, and outcomes to appropriate internal and external stakeholders
  • Partner with key stakeholders including Axon Academy on the development of eLearning training assets and delivery via Axon's learning management system
  • Partner with the product engineering teams to assess content, system developments/customizations to maintain testing/training materials, and update for clients as needed
  • Dive deep into our software functionality to serve as a product expert for our team and clients
  • Assist the development of eLearning content using various video recording and editing technologies such as Camtasia or other video recording/editing software
  • Always look for ways to create content more efficiently without compromising quality
  • Design/deliver training incorporating creativity, flexibility, and innovation in delivery techniques
  • Consult with clients to track issues, risks, and impacts to their business processes, determine mitigation strategies, and define how to incorporate into training and/or deployment plans
  • Support Public Safety agencies onsite through the go-live implementation process
  • Define and measure success metrics and monitor program progress
  • Attend and actively contribute to weekly Axon Change Team cross functional meetings
  • Develop a strong understanding of customer needs and the value of Axon's products, to ensure that all training content supports our mission
  • Perform other related duties as required or requested

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of Public Safety experience (former PSAP with Law Enforcement experience preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience delivering Public Safety training programs as a lead instructor
  • 3+ years of experience working closely with Law Enforcement technology solutions
  • 3+ years of experience developing training programs and materials for Public Safety professionals
  • Familiarity with software systems implementation approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly engaging presentation and training instructor skills
  • Proven success quickly learning new technology and software programs
  • Proven success in transforming raw content into informative, engaging, and compelling learning experiences
  • Demonstrated ability to partner across teams/functions to deliver results
  • Must be a team player; able to shift priorities as business needs change; ability to take initiative and work well independently
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
  • Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Ability to be flexible, multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple activities simultaneously in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Willingness to travel, estimated 20-80% monthly
  • Very strong Microsoft Office skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Government agency and/or Public Safety agency training certification
  • Experience with Records Management Software and 9-1-1 CAD/Dispatch technology
  • Experience in Instructional Design, Adult Learning, and/or Change Management
  • Experience delivering end-user training programs for enterprise-wide software solutions
  • Experience partnering with software engineering teams to develop end-user solutions that promote end-user adoption/satisfaction
  • Experience supporting a large-scale software implementation initiative
  • Experience developing training programs to be delivered via a Learning Management System
  • Proficiency developing eLearning content with Articulate, Camtasia, Captivate, or proprietary LMS
  • Experience with Absorb Learning Management System
  • Project management training/certification
  • Change management certification
