The People Team develops tools, processes, and systems that enable and empower our people to do their best work and drive Firm growth. We design and deliver the Firm's people practices and products, curate employee and candidate experiences, advise Firm leadership on organizational and individual people matters, and shape Firm culture. Within the People Team, our award-winning Professional Development Department designs and delivers more than 360 training programs for our attorneys and business professionals annually and is a key driver of the Firm's wellbeing efforts and commitment to be the leading career accelerant in the industry.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Professional Development, the Professional Development Manager develops, coordinates, and facilitates attorney training Firm-wide. This role works closely with the Professional Development team and firm to assess substantive learning needs and design training to meet these needs. The Professional Development Manager works with stakeholders to design curricula, program content, and ensure each training curriculum is aligned with the competencies and firm directed strategy.

As a Professional Development Manager, you will:

  • Facilitate the design, delivery, and ongoing coordination of the curricula, including specialized curricula by level and function, by practice group, and McDermott University
  • Facilitate associate mentoring initiatives, career plans, and on-boarding initiatives
  • Liaise with external vendors to develop and provide attorney development programming
  • Design and deliver staff Professional Development surveys and needs assessments. Analyze survey results and adapt and respond accordingly.
  • Support orientation and integration programming
  • Design and implement interactive training programming for attorneys
  • Assist with staff professional development initiatives
  • Measure and track performance of Practice Group and Professional Development initiatives and trainings, facilitate development ROI protocols; review and analyze data, interpret data



Job Specifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) or Masters' Degree in Organizational Change/Development, MBA, or other advanced degree a plus (or equivalent work experience)
  • At least four (4) years' experience in professional development, training, and/or organizational development in a professional service environment, ideally a consulting firm or large, global corporation
  • Experience developing and presenting training programs with strong presentation skills and executive presence
  • Knowledge of Continuing Legal Education (CLE)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
  • Ability to learn new concepts and skills quickly
  • Strong interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to be effective in both a group and one-on-one setting
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities
  • Team player with experience working in and with virtual teams and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Coaching certification or certification in assessments, such as DISC, a plus
