Your day to day

The Manager IT Program Management (GPP Program Manager) manages the direction of IHG's Information Technology Project Management discipline including project and program resource management, governance, reporting, communications, executive leadership status updates and briefings, and policy. This position leads a highly skilled technical team of Project and Program professionals that are responsible for (a) multiple projects of large scope and/or high complexity or (b) programs, providing management guidance to project teams; oversees the delivery of high criticality projects; has regular internal and/or external stakeholder interaction.

  • Lead development and implementation of the Guest Products and Platforms (GPP) Loyalty program and product strategy: future state based on deep understanding of how the business works, incorporating stakeholder priorities, pod capacity, financial, contractual, and commercial constraints. This should manifest itself in a roadmap of initiatives including small enhancement and content refreshments to existing products as well as new product needs.
  • Actively drive the adoption of a product model, Agile delivery methodology as GPP makes a shift away from project focus
  • Proactively seek input from stakeholders to create, manage, and align the GPP roadmap against business and customer needs, including coordinating that Product Owner & Managers (Technology & Business) are working together regularly to groom product backlog, driving future decision making based on a broad view of current and future initiatives and objectives.
  • Responsible for managing and coordinating major programs by developing program plans and schedules, adhering to product capital and opex budgets for all assigned product initiatives and features, balancing resource constraints, identifying, analyzing, and responding to risks, ensuring timely and appropriate generation, collection, dissemination, storage, and ultimate disposition of workstream information ensuring the initiatives include all work required and only work required, to continuously delivery in a product / Agile methodology.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of project managers, scrum masters, and scrum teams in the development, integration, and implementation of assigned product initiatives; provide technical / business guidance and leadership to staff; act as consultant to management in resolving unusually difficult problems.
  • Manage the preparation of all program / project management plans and oversee the development of reports and analyses that document program activity.
  • Provide regular updates to leaders and partners, catering the message depending on relevant audience(s).
  • Schedule, prepare materials, and, to the extent necessary, lead regular working team meetings, Steering Committees, and planning sessions which will include members from various levels, organizations, and upper management.
  • Analyze program budgets, estimate from participating organizations, and provide direction for the overall development of all program budgets and integrated cost profiles.
  • Participate with management and cross-functional teams in inter-organization task teams as subject matter expert to develop and improve operating policies and procedures related to technology delivery.
  • Develop / modify processes, policies, and procedures to facilitate the working relationship between GPP and its technology and business functions / partners.
  • Fosters collaboration with team members (Engineering, UX, etc.) to drive value and identify and resolve impediments



What we need from you

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Program Delivery, User Experience, Customer Experience, Statistics, Business, Finance or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experienced.


Experience

  • 8-10 years progressive work-related experience with demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines / technologies / processes related to the position as well as 3-5 years managing teams and / or significant complex projects



Skills & Technical Experience

  • Demonstrated program management experience in organizing, planning, and executing small to large-scale efforts from conception through implementation and ability to translate strategic business requirements into technical specifications and specific system functionality
  • Comfortable working within ambiguity where a solution doesn't exist and problems are aren't fully known or understood, and being able to formulate a direction and plan when not clear which also includes being able to recognize when and how to pivot with ease and effectively deliver
  • Strong effective verbal and written communication skills for providing and presenting information to internal stakeholders, management, teams, vendors. Strong consulting and interpersonal skills coupled with a demonstrated attention to detail when managing multiple tasks
  • Strong storyteller able to formulate cohesive messages with meaningful and impactful points that resonate with target audience
  • Strong leadership of multi-disciplined work teams using influence, adaptability, and decisiveness, using strong listening skills to collection options and narrow down proposed solutions
  • Expert knowledge of Agile product/program, portfolio management, and Scrum methodology, multi-faceted initiative constraints, and change management process
  • Demonstrated expert of the delivery lifecycle including project/initiative planning & budgeting/forecasting, sprint delivery, QA/E2E/UAT/Performance testing cycles, deployment sequencing/planning, launch execution and Production validation
  • Expertise in project/portfolio analysis & management tools, milestone slippage, exception reporting and performance management
  • Experience in formal requirements methodologies such as vision, scope, context, use cases, etc.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Word, and SharePoint) and portfolio/product management tools such as Smartsheet, Rally, Clarity PPM, Lucid, or a demonstrated ability and desire to learn quickly


Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated hotel industry knowledge reflecting the entire customer experience journey (reservations - stay - loyalty - on-property, and ongoing relationship management)
  • Experience with or knowledge of Salesforce cloud-based loyalty / member-related platforms such as Marketing Cloud, Customer Data Platform (previously C360), and Loyalty Management System (Loyalty Cloud)
  • Knowledge of hotel on-property and in-room systems used for guest check-in and hotel operations / guest management
  • Experience in orchestrating and facilitating PI Planning for small to large-scale cross-functional teams
  • Knowledgeable in Scaled Agile best practices (or similar) including process and tool utilization to improve team delivery, and certifications in SAFe, Scaled Agile, Release Train Engineering, or similar
