Job Description
As our Director, Manufacturing Operations you will have overall responsibility and leadership for our 136,000 square foot Video Security & Access Control electronics manufacturing facility in Richardson, TX which serves our customers around the world. You will manage and work closely with teams across the organization including: Production, Engineering, Human Resources, Finance / Cost, Supply Chain, Quality and more. Additionally you will:
Direct and monitor department managers to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures. Acts as liaison between department management/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results
Develop the manufacturing plan and establish procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards. Assists senior staff members in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives
Monitor scrap and rework data to identify, recommend and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce costs. Directs the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards
Manage site Profit and Loss statement and maintain site budget plan development/adherence. Formulates and recommends manufacturing policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
Achieve optimum employee levels with least amount of overhead and raw material costs to meet annual budgetary plan
Hire, train, develop and evaluate staff. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensure compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consult with the Human Resources Department as appropriate.
Direct and coordinate various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.).
Initiate and coordinate major projects (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.)
Foster an environment that encourages creative problem solving and collaboration across all Motorola Solutions organizations
Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
Qualifications:
Ability to manage a diverse team and direct activities to deliver on expectations
Proven ability to meet deadlines and operating under tight time constraints with a strong sense of urgency
Must have demonstrated experience in leading large scale projects
CQE, Green Black Belt, Lean Manufacturing certification preferred
Strong Google Workspace and Microsoft office skills (Docs, Sheets/Excel, Slides, etc)
Advanced strategic thinking and analytical thinking abilities
Eagerness to operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Ability to adapt to change and learn quickly
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees
Strong leadership, coaching and motivating skills
Ability to travel to other corporate sites and headquarters as required
Basic Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business or related field
10 years of experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a process-oriented operations and/or related industry
5 years of experience managing a significant segment of a large manufacturer or the entire operation of a smaller manufacturer. Experience in the electronics manufacturing industry is a strong plus.
Prior experience with an ERP system is required – SAP a plus
