Come join our Technical Content team

Our Technical Development team is dedicated to the creation and testing of questions that are a part of the most predictive and fair technical interviews available to software engineering candidates.

What you will do

As Director of Interview R&D at Karat, you will drive innovations that improve our engineering interviews and assessments. Leading a team of Software Engineers focused on developing cutting edge technical interview modalities and questions, you will lead the research of new methods of assessment in engineering interviewing, and drive Karat’s model to be ever more predictive, fair, and enjoyable.

Karat’s HQ is based in Seattle, Washington, but we are open to remote candidates for this role (within the U.S.). Immigration sponsorship is available for this position.

  • Work in partnership with Technical Content leadership to build and establish an effective interviewing lab prototype, exploring the latest scientific evidence in the field of assessment.
  • Lead the research, prototyping, implementation, piloting, and launch of experimental interview formats and innovative types of content.
  • Set the vision and direction for the Interview R&D team utilizing the latest research and innovative approaches in assessment of technical talent.
  • Build a team with deep expertise in the body of research around engineering hiring, technical interviewing and assessment science.
  • Manage a growing team of Software Engineers dedicated to driving the end-to-end process for prototyping new innovations across a variety of subject domains, partnering with clients to pilot these new ideas, and iterating on modules based on performance data and feedback from the broader Interview Content team.
  • Work closely with the Director of Interview Content Production and Community Operations team to ensure effective R&D-to-production workflow and partnership, enabling research and development to translate seamlessly into implementation and scale.

The experience you will bring

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering
  • Previous management experience leading a cross-functional technical team required
  • Deep experience interviewing engineers or building interviewing and hiring programs
  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate across a range of functions
