The FINEX Financial Institutions (FI) Associate Director position serves as the primary broker for complex Financial Institutions major accounts placements. They may lead, direct and support FINEX FI placements and associate brokers on complex FINEX FI placements and act in both client facing and market facing capacities. They perform a lead role in identifying, participating in and driving FINEX FI new business opportunities. They are a financial institutions subject matter expert for clients and WTW internal constituents.

The Role

  • Supports placement of large, complex and global programs for financial institutions into the marketplace
  • Coordinate with global colleagues on placements
  • Lead negotiations of renewal and new placements with insurance markets on behalf of clients
  • Perform research to understand client's & prospect's business and industry
  • Understand and explain complex coverage terms to clients and prospective clients
  • Develop marketing strategy in conjunction with clients, including underwriter meetings and presentations
  • Review and evaluate information and analytics to assess and evaluate client risks to support the placement of client risks in the market
  • Provide coverage and program design advice and expertise to client; perform needs and gap analysis to make recommendations regarding program improvements
  • Research and evaluate all solutions (insurance and otherwise) to identify and develop optimum risk solutions for clients
  • Develop, review and deliver presentations to clients and prospective clients
  • Lead and/or support new business opportunities including Request for Proposal opportunities
  • Ensure contract certainty for all placements including following WEM placement guidelines
  • Participate in program peer reviews where applicable
  • Build strong partnerships with a broad range of organizations and stakeholders in the market in order to secure optimum terms and conditions for clients
  • Help drive the FINEX global line of business strategy by contributing towards a culture of inclusiveness, excellence, connectivity and collaboration
  • Contribute to thought leadership to demonstrate team expertise and increase brand visibility
  • Contribute to FINEX related product and service innovations and continuous process improvement of the Broking function
  • Mentor and coach team members
  • Participate in and adhere to FINEX FINMAR protocols to support a strategic approach to broking
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain licensure



The Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Complexity of book: medium to high
  • Size of accounts: companies with over $1B in revenues
  • Minimum 6 years of industry experience
  • Insurance broker's P&C license required


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Technical knowledge of FINEX product lines including E&O, D&O, EPL, Fiduciary and Crime/Fidelity
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of current marketplace/carriers
  • Demonstrates technical knowledge of insurance contracts and structures
  • Analytical and quantitative skills to effectively communicate the value of analytical models and results for evaluating clients' risks
  • Demonstrates knowledge of core insurance principles and provides explanations to clients
  • Transactional oriented; ability to work on multiple placements at once
  • Must demonstrate core competency of Willis Towers Watson Values & Vision
  • Self-starter/requires minimal supervision, ability to execute assigned tasks in timely fashion
  • Ability to interface with clients and collaborate internally with teammates to serve clients
  • Seek guidance when needed and be receptive to feedback
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and oral
  • Good listening skills
  • Enhanced client service skills and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage and seek higher level support in difficult situations
  • Technology acumen - ability to utilize technology-based record management systems; advanced MS Office skills and familiarity with other relevant online tools
  • Bachelor's level degree required
  • Travel required
