Operations Specialists will work under the direction and supervision of the school site Business Operations Manager. This position is responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day operations of lunch, recess, and arrival/dismissal at the school site run safely and smoothly. Furthermore, Operations Specialists are responsible for ensuring that students maintain culturally appropriate behavior in all operational activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise, express clear expectations, and monitor students during assigned lunch (in the cafeteria) and recess periods. 
  • If assigned to recess, demonstrate creativity in developing engaging games and the ability to clearly facilitate and describe game instructions to students. 
  • Implement all site rules and safety regulations within the structure of the Rocketship classroom culture
  • Report any unsafe conditions, including equipment, to administrators immediately
  • Ensure a safe and effective arrival/dismissal for all students before and after school hours
  • Utilize appropriate disciplinary procedures and techniques in accordance with the school site discipline plan
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service training as deemed necessary for the position
  • Support the distribution of student breakfast & lunch meals.
  • Ensure a safe and effective arrival/dismissal for all students, including riding the school bus in the afternoon for dismissal and/or providing car lane support. 
  • Provide classroom support to teachers during the day with tasks such as material preparation, student supervision, etc.
  • Support in managing student behavior using established behavior systems to reinforce positive school culture and expectations.
  • Responsible for maintaining building and classroom supplies, ensuring teachers and students have the appropriate materials they need.
  • Maintain the overall beautification of both the interior and exterior of the school building.
  • Support the Business Operations Manager in identifying building maintenance needs.
  • Heavily contribute to the school's operational excellence by participating in operational walkthroughs (occurring three times a year) and ensuring successful outcomes on audits conducted by regional and national operations teams.
  • Perform all other projects and tasks as assigned by the Business Operations Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to Rocketship's mission, vision, and goals
  • Passion for working with children
  • Strong organization skills with a proven ability to handle multiple competing priorities at once in a fast-paced environment.Preferred experience using Google Workspace (Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.)
  • Previous experience managing and/or teaching groups of elementary-age students is strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to engage and work closely with a wide range of staff members
  • Ability to learn laws, rules, practices and procedures related to public education and specific to Rocketship Public Schools
  • Flexibility and a willingness to learn

Scheduled Work Hours:

  • 3 days per week
  • 7:00am - 4:30pm

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally climb ladders. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
 
Compensation:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
