About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager – Facilities Services to lead the delivery of maintenance and project services across a large and complex client environment.
Based onsite at the University of Auckland, you will be responsible for overseeing multidisciplinary teams across Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, and Carpentry services, ensuring exceptional service delivery while meeting contractual, commercial, safety and operational objectives.
This is a highly visible leadership role where you'll drive operational excellence, foster strong client partnerships, and create a high-performance culture focused on safety, quality and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day delivery of facilities maintenance and minor works services
Ensure contractual obligations, KPIs, and service level agreements are consistently achieved
Oversee planned, preventative, reactive, and corrective maintenance programs
Manage operational performance through effective planning, scheduling, and resource allocation
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, technicians, tradespeople, and subcontractors
Drive a strong safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
Manage operational budgets, profitability, labour utilisation, and contract performance
Identify and deliver revenue growth and service improvement opportunities
Oversee subcontractor and supplier performance to ensure quality and compliance
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across systems, processes, and service delivery
About You
8+ years' experience in facilities management, building services, maintenance services, or a related operational environment
Proven experience leading multidisciplinary trade teams
Strong understanding of Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC and Carpentry service delivery
Demonstrated success managing complex service contracts and client relationships
Strong commercial acumen with budget and financial management experience
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
Full New Zealand Driver License
