Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
The Operation Controller is a key position within the Japan Controllership team who oversees the accounting aspects of day-to-day business operational processes, including interfacing with both internal and external stakeholders for areas such as accounts payable (AP), banking, treasury, and other non-commercial processes. This position works closely with the International Controllership team to deliver on simplification projects, cross-border accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely accounting operations, business stakeholders to optimize and simplify processes, and external financial institutions to maintain strong banking relations.
In this role, you will be responsible for (1) maintaining controllership rigor in all operational activities, (2) keeping the company safe in cash and treasury operations (3) driving company initiatives such as ERP projects and digitalization. You will have the opportunity to work closely with many internal functions such as Treasury, Customs, Transfer Pricing, Tax, Legal, and Compliance.
Key responsibilities include the following:
- Optimize business operational processes such as AP, travel expense, sourcing, and internal controls
- Drive simplification efforts such as manual journal reduction and automation
- Support shared service hub strategy and monitor shared services quality related to bank transaction booking / payment operations
- Manage bank / treasury process to keep the company safe
- Work with Global Transfer Price team to make ensure Japan financials to comply with TP policy and all intercompany transactions are following proper agreements
- Work with the customs leader to make ensure customs payments comply with customs regulation
- Maintain good working relationships with external financial institutions
- Lead companywide projects such as ERP module implementations
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 4-10 years public accountant experience or relevant accounting managerial experience in multinational business/ Experience in Healthcare industry/similar Industrial sector is highly valued
- Strong compliance mindset
- Japanese & English in business level
- Good communication and leadership skill
- LEAN/ Kaizen skill
- Solid US GAAP knowledge-CPA is preferable
- Japan GAAP knowledge is a strong plus
- Treasury experience is a plus
- Commands of excel, PowerPoint. Experience in Oracle financial systems is a plus
