Hiring Brief: Community & Operations Manager – At the Table

We are looking for a warm, organized and proactive Community & Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of At the Table, a premium social space centred around Mahjong and curated community events in Chennai.

This person will be the face of the space when I am not present and will be responsible for ensuring every guest has a seamless and welcoming experience.

Key Responsibilities

* Open and close the space each day.

* Welcome members and guests, making them feel comfortable and at home.

* Set up and supervise Mahjong games and events.

* Ensure tables, equipment and the venue are always well-maintained and event-ready.

* Coordinate with vendors, housekeeping and catering when required.

* Manage bookings, memberships and payments.

* Handle guest queries and resolve issues calmly and professionally.

* Maintain inventory of Mahjong sets, accessories and event supplies.

* Assist with basic social media updates and event photographs/videos when needed.

* Ensure all events run smoothly and on schedule.

Ideal Candidate

* 2–5 years of experience in hospitality, luxury retail, events, premium customer service or community management.

* Excellent spoken English; Tamil is essential, and Hindi is a bonus.

* Warm, personable and naturally enjoys interacting with people.

* Well-groomed, confident and presentable.

* Highly organized with strong attention to detail.

* Calm under pressure and able to solve problems independently.

* Comfortable using WhatsApp, Excel/Google Sheets and digital payment systems.

* Honest, dependable and trustworthy.

* Interest in board games, community building or lifestyle experiences is an advantage. Mahjong experience is not required, as training will be provided.
