Nursing Assistant -Stroke/Neuro 3F
Location: Baptist Health Lexington – Lexington, KY
Schedule: Full-time | 1st Shift | 12-hour shifts
UNIT Description
3F is a 24- bed Telemetry unit. This unit supports our comprehensive stroke program. Specializing in the care of Neurology, Neurosurgery, TIA, and CVA. This unit also serves as an overflow for orthopedic patients. The patient population is transferred from ICU, ED and PACU.
SUMMARY
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or licensed care team member, the Nursing Assistant II provides direct patient care and support services to patients and families. This role performs selected nursing procedures and routine patient care to assist nursing personnel in treatment, comfort, and safety.
Assist with Patient Needs
Personal Hygiene Support: Assist patients with bathing, dental care, grooming, and dressing while maintaining their dignity and privacy.
Toileting Assistance: Aid patients with bowel and bladder functions, ensuring they are not left unattended during bathroom assistance and documenting intake and output (I & O).
Nutritional and Mobility Support: Help patients with eating and drinking, serve meals, and assist in positioning for meals while ensuring proper body alignment during transfers and activities.
Perform Patient Care
Vital Signs and Documentation: Take and document vital signs, measure I & O, and assist in preparing patient histories and chart packs as delegated by nursing staff.
Procedure Preparation and Assistance: Prepare patients, equipment, and supplies for medical procedures, and provide manual assistance as needed while ensuring adherence to hospital policies.
Direct Patient Care Tasks: Perform hygienic care, assist with feeding, and change dressings as delegated, all while maintaining patient privacy and dignity.
Participate in Responsibilities of Unit
Housekeeping and Supply Management: Complete assigned housekeeping duties, replenish and rotate supplies, and run errands as necessary to support unit operations.
Emergency Response and Quality Improvement: Respond to emergency codes and actively participate in quality improvement activities, focusing on patient safety and satisfaction metrics.
Safety Training and Compliance: Attend required safety training programs, understand responsibilities related to safety protocols, and collect and document specimens for laboratory analysis.
Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or currently enrolled in a nursing program with successful completion of first year and validation of clinical rotation.
Basic Life Support (must be obtained within 6 months of hire)
