The Nurse Extern II (NE II) position is a department specific externship intended for nursing students who are in their graduating year and seeking focused, hands on experience within a particular unit. This role provides consistent exposure within one specialty area and supports advanced skill development prior to graduation.
The Nurse Extern II provides patient care support under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, participating in patient care planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation, and communicating significant observations to the RN, within established scope and guidelines.
QualificationsEducation:
• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited RN nursing program
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Nursing course
• Completion of the first round of clinical rotations in full
• Must be within the final one to two academic terms of the nursing program (graduating year)
Experience:
• None required
Certifications:
• Required: AHA BLS
Additional Eligibility Information:
• This is a department specific position and is not a float role
• Nursing students who are not yet in their graduating year should apply to the Nurse Extern I (float pool) position instead
