The NPI Buyer/Planner is responsible for ensuring supply to support the launch of new products. This role will manage planning and materials requirements from development, to pilot. The NPI Buyer/Planner is expected to purchase and negotiate materials from suppliers using standard operating procedures and ways of working with a high level of competence.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support new product launches with minimal supervision on supply chain activities that must occur to ensure initial builds of inventory for launch and for sustaining availability of inventory
- Create and execute purchase orders based on demand requirements
- Create master data for new build requirements & purchased materials
- Work with CM to procure materials to plan and delivery schedule to support build requirements
- Manage sourcing, quoting and procurement for NPI demand
- Support commodity managers in sending NPI RFQ requests, managing and filing quotes
- Prepare ongoing materials status and summary for each project to NPI teams
- Perform more challenging material planning tasks requiring creativity and problem solving
- Participate in Engineering Change Order review and ensure all planning is based on latest BOM
- Manage timely execution of MRP actions to ensure uninterrupted supply to customer
- Manage internal rework requests in coordination with suppliers, engineering, and warehouse teams
- Resolve simple to moderately complex invoice issues
- Participates on process improvement projects
- Participates on project teams representing NPI Supply Chain
- Continue to support Production and MRO activity as required
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum BA/BS degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting
- Must have minimum 5 years experience as a NPI buyer
- Able to follow instructions and use initiative to solve problems
- Ability to work with complex projects and teams
- Communicate at high level and organized at detailed level
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the field
- Ability to problem solve/troubleshoot within immediate work area
- Works without immediate supervision
- Experience working with ERP systems (preferably Netsuite), Excel and Google Sheets
The salary range for this position is: $95,000 to $120,000
Compensation will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to: skill set, years of experience and the employee’s geographic location.
