The News Writer is responsible for producing breaking news content and other features.
The News Writer will be a team player who has excellent writing and communication skills as well as a deep love and knowledge of entertainment and pop culture.
The News Writer will work closely with the rest of the team, taking assignments as needed, suggesting story ideas, and pitching unique ways in which to forward a story. Successful candidates will be able to produce well-researched and engaging content under tight deadlines.
This News Writer must be willing to work Tuesday-Saturday.

10% - Cover events and conduct interviews as needed, and other duties as assigned

Education:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism or communications, related field or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience:
Minimum 1-5 years experience
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Strong knowledge of entertainment, pop culture, and the EW brand
- An idea generator who can think of new, fresh story ideas
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with SEO, social media, content management systems, Photoshop
% Travel Required (Approximate): not anticipated, but may be assigned

Pay Range
Salary: New York: $69,000.00 - $69,000.00The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of People Inc's total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
