Micron's Mask Technology Center (MTC) in Boise, Idaho is an innovative photomask fabrication facility that enables advanced semiconductor manufacturing through innovative photomask technology and process excellence. The team is responsible for developing, sustaining, and continuously improving photomask manufacturing processes that support Micron's memory and storage products. Team members collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and quality organizations to drive operational performance, yield improvement, and technology advancement.
As a Photomask BEOL Sustaining Engineer, you will support and improve photomask manufacturing processes while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the production environment. This role provides opportunities to develop expertise in process engineering, root cause analysis, problem-solving, and project ownership. You will work closely with multi-functional teams to identify process improvements, resolve manufacturing issues, and ensure the delivery of high-quality photomasks that support advanced semiconductor technologies.
Responsibilities
- Sustain and optimize photomask BEOL manufacturing processes to improve quality, yield, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Investigate process excursions, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions to address manufacturing challenges.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, equipment, quality, and process engineering teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and technology transfers.
- Lead and execute engineering projects, including process characterization, qualification activities, and documentation of results.
- Apply AI-Assisted and Generative AI tools to support data analysis, problem-solving, documentation, and process improvement activities while ensuring appropriate engineering review and validation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause investigations and interpret technical data.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with experience working in team-oriented environments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive projects to completion in a manufacturing or technical setting.
- Experience Using AI tools or AI Assistants to support technical analysis, documentation, research, or engineering workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, photomask technology, process engineering, or a related high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), failure analysis, or process characterization methodologies.
- Experience with data analysis, process optimization, yield improvement, or manufacturing problem-solving techniques.
- Demonstrated project leadership experience through academic, internship, co-op, or professional engineering projects.
- Experience Applying Artificial Intelligence, Leveraging AI, or Agentic AI solutions to support engineering analysis, process optimization, troubleshooting, or operational efficiency improvements.
