Job Overview:

  • Performs complex testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities, including power, software, communication devices, lines, modems, hardware, and terminals.
  • Provide guidance and training to other departments, divisions, officials, agencies and municipalities

Experience Requirements:

  • This Network Specialist needs at least 3 years of data network design, installation and maintenance experience
  • Install and program new network equipment and test and evaluate the results.
  • Modify existing network equipment for added functions via upgrades and/or reprogramming.
  • Administers IP address selection and assignments of IP addresses to city, county, and state agencies requiring access to the County Data Network.
  • Study and learn new network technologies and integrate them into the existing network techniques unique to the County.
  • Analyze and take appropriate action to isolate network faults and take corrective action in a expeditious and timely manner.
  • Provide guidance to departments, divisions, elected officials, and municipalities in complying with network procedures, purchases, and projects.
  • Develop and train staff in departments, divisions, elected officials, and municipalities in network installation and troubleshooting.

  • Provide consulting services to departments, divisions, elected officials, and municipalities to address technical issues related to network design, installation and planning.
  • Performs other related duties as required

Physical Requirements:

  • Mobility to work in typical office setting and use standard office equipment
  • Stamina to sit for extended periods of time; strength to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Education Preferences:

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities is acceptable

Schedule:

  • 8AM EST – 5PM EST
