About the Role

As the Network Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of highly skilled network engineers responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, and continuous improvement of NOV's global enterprise network.

Reporting directly to the Director, IT Networking, you will define network engineering standards, guide technical strategy, and ensure our global infrastructure remains secure, scalable, and ready to support the future needs of the business.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while developing people and building high-performing engineering teams.

About the Team

You will lead a team of Network Engineers and Architects based in Norway and collaborate daily with colleagues across Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific, and other global locations. The team partners closely with Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Cloud Services, Project Management, and Operations to deliver enterprise-wide technology solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop a global team of Network Engineers and Architects.  
  • Define and execute the strategy for NOV's global network infrastructure.  
  • Drive the architecture, design, and lifecycle management of enterprise LAN, WAN, WLAN, cloud, and data centre networking solutions.  
  • Establish engineering standards, governance, and best practices across the global network environment.  
  • Lead technical reviews and provide architectural oversight for network projects and infrastructure changes.  
  • Drive adoption of network automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to improve operational efficiency and consistency.  
  • Collaborate with Cybersecurity teams to strengthen network security, segmentation, VPN technologies, and compliance.  
  • Monitor network performance and promote proactive improvements through analytics and monitoring tools.  
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, project teams, and technology vendors to deliver business-critical initiatives.  
  • Contribute to budgeting, technology roadmaps, and continuous improvement initiatives supporting NOV's long term digital strategy.  
     
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.  

Experience

  • Experience managing or mentoring network engineering teams in an enterprise environment.  
  • Strong background in designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, cloud networking, and network security.  
  • Experience with routing, switching, network automation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is highly desirable.  
  • Ability to work across global teams, manage technical priorities, and drive engineering best practices.  

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong knowledge of enterprise networking technologies and security best practices.  
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.  
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities with a continuous improvement mindset.  

Working Requirements

  • This position is based in Kristiansand, Norway, and is not a remote or international hire.
  • Applicants must currently reside in Norway and have the legal right to work in Norway. Relocation sponsorship is not available.
  • Willingness to travel internationally on occasion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent networking certifications.  
  • Experience working in a global, multi site enterprise environment.  
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and network automation.
