An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Global Architecture team in Wellington, supporting network architecture across the APAC region.
This role is ideal for a Senior Network Engineer ready to step into their first architecture role, while still staying close to the technology and delivery.
About the role
As Network Architect for APAC, you’ll play a key role in shaping and evolving FNZ’s network environment. You’ll work closely with experienced architects and engineering teams, gaining exposure to architecture practices while continuing to build on your strong technical foundation.
This is a hands-on, development-focused role — perfect for someone looking to grow into architecture over time, rather than stepping into a fully developed architect position from day one.
What you’ll be doing
- Support the development of network architecture, standards and design patterns
- Work alongside engineering teams to design and implement network solutions
- Contribute to design discussions and architecture reviews
- Collaborate with business and technology teams to understand and shape requirements
- Explore new technologies and support their introduction into the environment
- Help drive improvements in automation, monitoring and resilience
What we’re looking for
- Solid experience in a Network Engineer / Senior Network Engineer role
- Strong understanding of network design fundamentals across on-prem and/or cloud
- Keen interest in moving into architecture and developing in this space
- Comfortable working both hands-on and at a design level
- Good communication skills and a collaborative approach
Technical exposure
- Routing (BGP, OSPF) and general network design
- Cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Network security fundamentals
- Automation tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible) – nice to have
