Ameresco has an immediate opening for a Multisite Energy Management Systems (EMS) Specialist to join our team supporting a major multisite EMS project for military housing installations. This role blends deep technical expertise in cellular networking, Wi-Fi deployment, HVAC controls, and building energy management systems with vendor coordination and operational oversight — operating at the intersection of network engineering, controls integration, and field operations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the setup, configuration, and ongoing management of Verizon cellular backhaul networks, including account provisioning, performance monitoring, bandwidth optimization, and minimization of offline devices using platforms such as ThingSpace.
- Oversee the specification, provisioning, deployment, security configuration, and monitoring of InHand routers and in-home Wi-Fi networks, including development of standard processes for installation and commissioning.
- Collaborate with HVAC controls partners on the enhancement and deployment of frontend interfaces, mobile applications, Yardi integration, and automated vacant home reprogramming capabilities; support testing, validation, and rollout of these improvements.
- Coordinate with installation and maintenance partners to ensure EMS equipment is installed and maintained according to specifications, providing technical training, remote and onsite support, troubleshooting of offline devices, and reprogramming support.
- Deliver limited technical consulting support to customer IT teams on Yardi integration, alarm management, vacant home automation, and business intelligence/reporting solutions.
- Monitor communications infrastructure integrity and performance; utilize diagnostic tools to identify and remediate network issues, interference, and data usage anomalies.
- Support overall project execution including development, testing, and operation of the EMS technical solution.
- Identify and train customer and partner personnel on relevant network management, controls, and monitoring applications.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Energy Systems, or related STEM field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in building energy management systems (EMS/BMS), IoT/cellular networking, HVAC controls, or related technical field.
- Travel Required (frequent travel to military installations). (40%)
- Must be eligible for and capable of gaining entry to U.S. military installations.
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with cellular IoT networks, router provisioning (e.g., InHand or similar), Wi-Fi deployment, and device management platforms.
- Hands-on knowledge of building automation systems (BAS), HVAC controls, and integration with property management software such as Yardi.
- Familiarity with Verizon ThingSpace, MyBusiness, or equivalent IoT management tools, including AI-driven rules, alerts, and analytics.
- Prior experience providing technical training and support to installation teams and customer stakeholders.
- Strong project coordination skills with multiple vendors and partners.
- Working knowledge of network security protocols, RF diagnostics, and bandwidth management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- CEM or similar energy certification, networking certifications (e.g., CCNA), or BAS-specific training a plus.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $80,900 – $128,750 (presented in good faith). In addition to base pay, employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, and may be eligible for performance incentives, bonuses, commissions, or equity, depending on the role.
Actual pay will depend on factors such as internal equity, skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. This range supports our commitment to pay transparency and compliance with applicable laws. Compensation may vary by work location, including remote arrangements.
