eBay, Inc. seeks MTS 1, Software Engineer in San Francisco, CA

Job Duties: Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software systems scaling beyond 1B requests/day and focused on improving buyer experience at eBay. Analyze requirements prepare design, and develop robust, scalable software systems using object-oriented programming. Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews. Provide guidance, communicate technical risks and trade-offs, and influence decisions. Map business problems to solutions that will be adopted at eBay. Drive ramp, launch, and observability in software production. Champion software engineering excellence in best practices as well as advanced concepts like security, scalability, performance, and availability. Identify gaps and issues across systems and functional areas, propose solutions, and drive resolution. Take software project features and scope them into sub-tasks for ease of execution by others, removing potential issues before they become blockers. Research, analyze, design, develop, and test the solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Base Salary: $172,931.00-234,850.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
