The Role

Overall Purpose Of The Job

This is a Microsoft Business Intelligence Software Engineer role largely responsible for providing data analytics insights to the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather business requirements from Clients or Business Analysts
  • Design & Develop data warehouse solutions based on requirements
  • Maintain a high standard of delivery quality
  • Innovate and look for new solutions/components
  • Build POCs to demonstrate new usage and present them to a senior audience
  • Elaborate project documentation (Design documents, deployment guide, )
  • Maintenance of existing BI projects, reports, dashboards, and ETL processes
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to understand business challenges and opportunities.
  • Identify issues, gather information from various sources, and translate essential business needs into technical specifications that are used as reference for data product design.
  • Automate processes
  • Deliver improvements to Data Warehouse, data marts, reports, dashboards
  • Spearhead detailed data analysis and modeling

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • 4+ Years of Experience in Microsoft Business Intelligence (MSBI), SSIS, Ab Initio or other ETL tools

Technical

  • Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server
  • Expertise in writing complex SQL queries and performance optimization
  • Expertise in Data Warehouses design, data modeling, and semantic layer definition
  • Expertise in SSIS building and optimizing
  • Expertise in SSAS
  • Expertise using PowerBI and SSRS
  • Experience in writing MDX queries, DAX queries
  • Experience of using Visual Studio TFS
  • Possess superior organization skills to be able to manage end-to-end data product development with production development, conducting system integration/user acceptance testing, etc
  • Be a steward of good data practices - robust documentation (i.e.: metadata), versioning, play booking, processes, and knowledge sharing.
  • Ability to work with the team to support the maintenance of data platforms

Nice to have

  • Exposure to other data visualization tools (Tableau, Qlik)
  • Exposure to data analytics, and data science (Python, Spark, etc.)
  • Exposure to Cloud Architecture (AWS/Azure)
  • Exposure to development on .Net (4.5 to 4.8)
  • Exposure to Data virtualization

Innovation:

  • Develop a good working knowledge of available technology capabilities and how and where to deploy them.
  • Evaluate potential technical solutions and make recommendations to resolve business problems.

Required Work Experience

  • 4+ years' experience in Microsoft Business Intelligence (MSBI)
