Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Solutions is establishing its first India-based modem engineering team in Bangalore, spanning modem baseband, platform, and RF software development in close collaboration with global Ericsson teams and Qualcomm partners. This founding team is shaping next-generation enterprise and industrial 5G solutions on advanced SDX-based platforms.
As a Modem RF Software Engineer, you will play a central role in delivering carrier-grade RF performance across bands and regions. This is a ground-up opportunity to influence RF architecture early, take strong technical ownership, and deliver high-performance, power-efficient 5G modem platforms deployed at global scale.
What you will do:
In this role, you will work at the intersection of RF hardware, modem firmware, and platform software, leading RF front-end integration, tuning, and validation for Qualcomm SDX-based LGA modem modules. You will be responsible for ensuring RF performance, stability, and carrier readiness across diverse deployment environments.
What You Will Do
RF Front-End Integration (40%)
• Integrate third-party RF front-end modules (Skyworks, Qorvo, Broadcom, Murata) with Qualcomm modem platforms
• Develop RF control software and drivers using RFFE, MIPI, SPI, and I2C
• Implement control and coordination for PA, LNA, RF switches, and antenna tuners
RF Tuning & Optimization (30%)
• Perform RF calibration, tuning, and characterization across multiple bands and carriers
• Optimize transmit power, receive gain, and antenna tuning algorithms
• Analyze RF KPIs including RSSI, RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, EVM, and ACLR
• Tune RF performance to meet carrier and regulatory requirements
Driver Development & Integration (20%)
• Develop and customize Linux kernel drivers for RF components
• Integrate and adapt Qualcomm AMSS/MPSS RF drivers
• Implement RF-related power management and debug HW/SW integration issues
Testing & Validation (10%)
• Develop and support automated RF test frameworks
• Perform conducted and OTA RF testing
• Support carrier certification activities (PTCRB, GCF)
The skills you bring:
• 7+ years (Senior) or 10+ years (Staff) of RF software development for cellular systems
• 5+ years working with Qualcomm modem platforms (MDM / SDX series)
• 3+ years integrating third-party RF front-end modules with cellular modems
• Strong understanding of 4G LTE and 5G NR physical-layer concepts
• Expertise in RF front-end architectures (PA, LNA, filters, switches, tuners)
• Strong C/C++ skills; Linux kernel driver development experience
• Experience with RTOS (FreeRTOS, ThreadX) and Qualcomm AMSS/MPSS architecture
• Proficiency with MIPI RFFE, SPI, I2C, and GPIO interfaces
• Hands-on experience with QXDM, QMSL, QMI, QPST, and QRCT tools
• Experience using RF test equipment (Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz, Anritsu, CMW500)
• Python or Perl scripting for automation; Git version control
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Qualcomm, Skyworks, Qorvo, Broadcom, or Murata RF solutions
• Knowledge of envelope tracking, APT, carrier aggregation, and MIMO
