Mid Threat Manager

***This position requires an active TS/SCI security clearance to be considered. ***

Cherokee Insights is seeking qualified individuals to serve as Threat Managers at the mid-level in support of the Behavioral Threat Analysis Center. The Threat Manager will support threat assessments with reviewing, identifying, and developing specific intervention and prevention strategies across the spectrum of insider threat.

Mid Threat Manager Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide threat management consultations and assessments
  • Provide threat assessments regarding motivations and intentions of potential insider threat activities.
  • Provide consultation with DoD Components to ensure threat management-related objectives and values are directly considered and factored into insider threat programs and processes.
  • Provide professional risk-based recommendations on potential steps to mitigate or address risk indicators of insider threat.
  • Brief the initial results of threat assessments and/or threat management
  • recommendations to senior officials and key stakeholders from the DoD Component Insider Threat programs
  • Provide support to senior DITMAC management initiatives on threat management issues impacting DITMAC assessments and recommendations.
  • Develop threat assessment indicators that help to prevent, deter, detect, and mitigate actions by malicious insiders who represent a threat to national security or DoD personnel, facilities, operations, and resources.
  • Assist with informing and tuning the development of threat management strategies, as well as assessment instruments used to identify potential risk behaviors indicative of an insider threat.
  • Formulate related threat management strategies in support of DITMAC analytical findings/recommendations provided to DoD Component Insider Threat programs that may have significant national security implications.
  • Develop and provide training courses on elements of threat management
  • Conduct targeted research on different aspects of insider threat.
  • Develop standard briefings on threat assessments and threat management issues.
  • Produce reports and talking points as a result of targeted research on different aspects of insider threat, both physical and logical, as well as continuous understanding of threat assessments and threat management
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned

Mid Threat Manager Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • Possess a certification as a Threat Assessment Professional administered by the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP), and must be an active ATAP member.
  • Possess a minimum of five (5) years of compensated professional experience in the field of threat assessment and management (TAM); OR, two (2) years of membership in good standing in ATAP as defined in the Association Bylaws, and two (2) years of compensated professional experience, which may be concurrent.
  • Possess a minimum of six (6) years of experience in threat assessment and/or threat management.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the DoD population through work experience directly supporting the military or DoD population.
  • Experience providing support and expertise to a local, state or federal threat management unit or team focused upon assessing and managing the risk of violent behavior.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience with providing military or civilian leaders with threat assessment and threat management advice and counsel, and presenting those findings in both written and verbal formats.
  • Experience with the Intelligence and/or Law Enforcement communities, Government, DoD and commercial databases used to compile analytic products, and the ability to incorporate resulting analysis into threat assessment briefs.
  • Demonstrated experience using Structured Professional Judgement (SPJ) Tools to support threat assessment and management
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
