Job Summary
As a Mid Migration Enginer (19845), you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient software applications. Your role will involve leading technical projects, mentoring junior engineers, and continuously improving software development practices to ensure the delivery of robust and reliable software systems.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Execute end-to-end migration activities including discovery, planning, execution, troubleshooting, and stabilization of virtual machines transitioning from VMware environments to AWS Outposts and OpenShift platforms.
- Perform environment discovery and dependency mapping using tools such as RVTools, ensuring accurate assessment of application and infrastructure readiness.
- Carry out replication, rehosting or replatforming of virtual machines, implement required network adjustments, and coordinate cutover activities following defined migration waves.
- Provide hypercare support post-migration by validating functionality, resolving issues, optimizing performance, and maintaining detailed migration documentation and reports.
Qualifications and Skills
- 5 to 10 years of experience in VMware administration, infrastructure engineering, or cloud migration projects.
- Strong hands-on expertise with VMware vSphere or VMware Cloud Foundation environments.
- Experience working with AWS migration tools, AWS Outposts, and hybrid cloud infrastructures.
- Familiarity with OpenShift environments, including workload validation, scaling, and service management.
- Solid Linux administration skills with advanced troubleshooting capabilities.
- Scripting experience using Shell or Python for automation and operational tasks.
- Experience with configuration management and automation tools such as Ansible.
- Ability to execute structured migration runbooks and follow governance and compliance frameworks.
- Experience supporting patching, validation testing, and ensuring systems are migration-ready.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively within cross-functional Migration Factory teams.
